This is by far the best beer I have ever had. The subtle hints of oak and cherry make this a very smooth beer. It’s not hoppy and in my experience most beverages with this high of alcohol content, the alcohol tends to be overbearing but not with False Summit. Extraordinary beer! I do wish we could get it in the Seattle area.

This beer just does it for me. I’ve been a beer lover for many years and enjoy all different types. This is a strong brew but isn’t over bearing. Something about it just makes me happy.

Deep dark amber/mahogany with a very thin off white head. Stupid aroma of raisins and bourbon and brown sugar and vanilla and plums. Smooth flavor with a huge palate of boozy raisin/plum tones with some Belgian dark malts, bourbon, vanilla and oak, Finishing with some sweet dark fruitiness and a little more bourbon. Amaze balls.

750ml bottle, 2017 vintage. Rich dark fruit aroma with notes of caramel, candi sugar, vanilla, bourbon and oak. Pours dark caramel colored with a thin, dark tan head that has some retention and lacing. Starts sticky sweet with dark fruit, caramel and candi sugar sweetness as well as a rich, full body and smooth bourbon-like mouthfeel. Finishes impeccably smooth with vanilla, bourbon and oak flavors as well as a hint of warming booze at the very end. Quite wonderful!

Deep maroon with surprising clarity and ruby highlights below a fuzzy brown sugar head. Aroma is decadent and sweet -- grape, raisin, maple, vanilla, booze. In the flavor things are more dry and complex, balancing raisin, fig and grape with crusty raisin bread, vanilla, oak and, finally, brown sugar-soaked bourbon. Taken together, this is one of the best bourbon-barrel quads I’ve had. The vanilla of the wood comes through in a beautiful way and the bourbon flavor is kept to a minimum, just an accent for the dark fruits. Superb.

750 ml corked and caged bottle poured a clear reddish brown with a small lasting creamy tan head. Aromas of bourbon, toffee, vanilla, cherry, plum, oak and candi sugar. Palate was medium to full bodied and smooth. Flavors of bourbon, dark fruit, toffee, candi sugar, light oak and light vanilla with a smooth lingering fruity finish.

750ml next to Boulevard BBQ and River North B’Side. This was the winner. Sweet dark fruit with a great backing of oak and bourbon character. Very smooth and distinctive with a little hint of tart pucker at the back end. Wonderful beer.
