COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This beer was created in collaboration with our friends at Montanya Distillers, located just over the Sawatch Range in Crested Butte, Colorado. We couldn’t think of a better blend of flavors than aging our award-winning horchata imperial porter, Señorita™, in barrels that once produced Montanya’s award-winning rum

On tap at Falling Rock. Pours a cloudy brown with medium tan head leaving spotty lacing. The aroma is strong wood, rum, roasted malt. Medium body, nice sweetness from the rum, chocolate, roast, boozy finish, very nice.

Never had the base beer, so I can’t compare head to head, but not getting much, if any, horchata here. The rum isn’t overwhelming (it too would be hard to identify) though the sweet beer is obviously barreled. Nice dark roasted flavors and aroma with sweet and oaky barrel presence. Unfocused, but good.

Bottle:   Black, moderate foamy light beige head, nice lacing.   Spicy nose, a little chocolate and chili pepper aroma.   Spicy on the tongue.   Not really getting any Rum on this.   I do get a spicy chocolate from start to finish.   Moderate body and mouthfeel.   Sweet chocolate roasted malt finish with some chili pepper aftertaste.   Pretty smooth.

Type: 750ml bottle (25.4 oz.) Glass: AleSmith Barrel-Aged Reserve snifter glass From: Beer Advocate’s mschantz Price: N/A Purchased: N/A; Received on April 17, 2015 Consumed: Sept. 23, 2015 Misc.: Bottled on March 10, 2015; Wire hood Thanks Mike! Poured an almost pitch black color with 3-to-4 fingers of khaki tan, frothy head. Good amount of uneven, foamy, spiderweb lacing on the sides of the glass. Good retention on the top all the way down. (Sight - 4.25) Smelled toasty malts, chocolate, caramel, toffee, roasted nuts, faint rum and coke, cinnamon spice, smoky vanilla, spicy cayenne powder and creamy, milky malts. (Smell - 4.38) Taste wasn’t quite as good as the nose, but still very good. Got toasty Mexican chocolate malts, spicy cinnamon, caramel, roasted nuts, earthy toffee, wet cocoa nibs and warm rum notes late on the tongue. I’m guessing the spiciness I’m getting is Horchata, but I don’t know if I’ve ever had it before. (Taste - 4.25) Medium-to-full body. Sticky texture. Average carbonation. Long, smooth, warming finish. (Feel - 4.13) This was pretty damn good. I couldn’t quite get the right temperature, but seemed to be best about 35 minutes out of the fridge. (Overall - 4.25) 4.26 95 A

Bottle courtesy of Ruben and shared with the Shape crew.

Beautiful balance of baker’s chocolate, dried brown fruits, toasted coconut, spices and rum with a true to form dry porter finish. A definite winner!

Bottle. Pours a very dark brown color with a moderate tan head on there. Nose has some nice spiciness to it with a hint of some whiskey coming through, though the aroma is not particularly strong. Taste is strongly roasty with some subtle spice and vanilla coming through, and just a hint of the whiskey. Not nearly as spicy as the Senorita.

Aroma has lots of milk chocolate, cinammon, caramel, and a hint of roasted malt. Dark brown color, tan-colored head. Cinammon chocolate, moderately sweet and milky, a bit of spice, lots of vanilla and a splash of bourbon in the finish. Medium full body, milky texture; calm and smooth. Wow, very good. Great meld of flavors.

750 corked and caged bottle. Pours a medium, well retained, tiny bubbled, beige head, with moderate lacing, over a brownish black (SRM 35) body.....nose is cocoa, chocolate, light coffee notes from the roasted malts, light cinnamon, vanilla, hints of rum from the additives, light herbal hops, balance to the malts......taste is sweet, with chocolate, cocoa, from the roasted malts, lactose, light cinnamon, hints of rum, vanilla, from the barrel and additions, light mint and hints of finishing bitterness from the hops, malts and additives dominate......mouth feel, body medium, sticky, alcohol warmth present, low carbonation. The additives and barrel are apparent, but not super dominant. The base beer comes through, but the overall result would be muddled for those who want a clean, crisp, simple beer. This is for hedonists who enjoy complexity in aroma and flavor. This is really more of a spice, herb, wood aged, than the more easily defined, Imperial/Strong Porter. BJCP 8/3/16/5/8
