Bottle. Pours hazy reddish gold with a massive fluffy head. Two fingers of beer with head all the way to the rim. Aromas of brown sugar and dark fruit. Flavors are yeasty esters, some citrus, a but of brown sugar, cut grass, black pepper and bready notes. Finished with earthy hops and perhaps some metallic flavors. Peppery mouthfeel; highly carbonated. Noticeable alcohol warmth. A very unusual Oktoberfest. Not terribly good. GTAEgeek (2220) - Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA - OCT 25, 2015
12 oz. bottle. Dark, hazy brown color, with a medium, tan head. The nose is caramel, ripe apples, cinnamon, pumpernickel, and cloves. Sweet and malty, with a good hop bitterness in the finish. Medium to heavy body, sticky, syrupy, and a little clingy. This is a nice, solid maerzen. The body is a little too heavy, and the flavor is a little too bitter, but still a nice beer. 1880 Oktoberfest pours a murky amber with insane amounts of head. overflowing a pint glass on half a bottle. Nose is decent roasted malt and caramelized sugar. Taste is more malty goodness, but somewhat thin and sharp. there is an off aftertaste that is reminiscent of chemicals or cleaners. body is a bit thin. overall, this is a disappointing beer. I’ve had much better examples of the style. DialSquare (5032) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - OCT 4, 2014

UPDATED: NOV 26, 2013 From a bottle. Solid, but there’s a slightly metallic note that distracts. Light and refreshing. garrison (812) - Cin. city, Ohio, USA - OCT 1, 2013
Purchased from Ludlow Wines in Cincinnati, Ohio - This brew poured a brown marzen beer with the distinctive autumn leaves aroma. Alright, tastewise, it was a fully balanced Oktoberfest brew, but it laxked the sugar content of some of the other Fall season beers. But that’s okee-dokee, I like it. daniellunsford (105) - - JUN 6, 2013
Nice amber red pour with a small head and minimal lacing. Aroma of metal and acidity. Taste is metallic malts in line with Oktoberfest beers. Not very full bodied. Overall a middle of the pack Oktoberfest. alexsdad06 (10434) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - DEC 28, 2012
Draft at Cincy Beer Fest. Pours a dark orange amber color with a medium sized off white head. The aroma is moderately sweet malts, lightly toasted, hints of nuts and a light fruity note. The flavor is moderately sweet malts, caramel, toasted bread, mild nutty notes; it was interesting enough to finish with all the other beers around. Evolutionary (503) - Ohio, USA - OCT 4, 2012
