Poured from a 12 ounce bottle. Pours a dark brown to amber with a large beige head of foam. Good retention. The aroma has a nice ashy, roasty, slightly spicy character. The taste is a lot like a cola and root beer mix. Fizzy and soda like in mouthfeel as well. For the style, this is superb, but it still just isn’t really my thing. daniellunsford (105) - - JUN 6, 2013
Pours a clearish black with a thin beige head. Aroma of metal and alcohol similar to what you would expect from a red. This beer is a really fantastic offering that tastes of chocolate the warmer is gets. burg326 (5607) - Florida, USA - MAR 15, 2013
12 ounce bottle pours an amber brown color with aromas of light roast, caramel, toast and bread. Flavors were the same light roast in the aftertaste, decent beer overall. drowland (9077) - Georgia, USA - MAR 4, 2013
3/4/13. 12oz bottle found randomly in a tub in the RBWG aftermath... thanks, whoever! Clear ruby red brown pour with a small khaki head that doesn’t last. Light toasted bread and dough aroma with touches of caramel and very light coffee. Nicely balanced toasty malt flavor with a bit of astrigency and caramel. Actually nice for what it is. Pors clear, red-brown, short, off-white head.
Scent is chocolate, caramel-cola.
Taste is much the same with a soft bittering.

Tap at Cincy Beerfest. Earthy wood malt aroma. Clear chestnut with a small off-white head. Sweet woody chocolate malt flavor. Light body, medium carbonation. shrubber85 (11618) - Greenville, Indiana, USA - FEB 18, 2013
Draft. Light caramel chocolate malt aroma. Chestnut with moderate head. Chocolate malt and hay flavor. Solid, easy drinking beer. alexsdad06 (10818) - West Chester, Ohio, USA - FEB 9, 2013
12 oz bottle at an in-laws wedding. Pours a dark amber color with a creamy medium sized beige head. Nose has some caramel malt, some soapy notes and a light, but strange off note. Flavor is thin caramel, almost like caramel water, a light bready note, some grainy notes and light hops. Nothing too bad, just nothing very exciting either. At least I found a tick at a wedding. kjc51478 (441) - Valparaiso, Indiana, USA - JAN 11, 2013
Pint draught from brewpub. Appearance is dark copper color with quickly dissipating, beige head. Aroma is fairly mild with bread, caramel, and malty sweetness the main notes. Taste is similar with bready and caramel flavors, sweet malts, and next to zero bitterness. Palate is medium-bodied, nice and soft texture, soft carbonation, and a short, sweet finish. sfontain (851) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - DEC 9, 2012
12 oz bottle. Dark garnet; head dissipates quickly into utter nonexistence. Dark caramel and yeast aroma. Taste is sweet, caramel, bready; almost no bitterness at all in the finish. Medium thickness; a bit sticky on the lips. Reminds me of a dunkel; this beer is not my thing.
