COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A bigger cousin of the English Pale, India Pale Ales were originally brewed with extra alcohol and lots of hops, both of which served to preserve the beer on the long voyage from England to the colony. Dry hopped with a distinct floral essence.

12 ounce bottle into tulip glass, bottled on 1/9/2017. Pours moderately hazy/cloudy golden orange/amber color with a 2 finger dense and rocky off white head with fantastic retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lasts. Nice thick soapy lacing clings around the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Aromas of grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, peach, lemon zest, orange peel, citrus rind, light pepper, pine, light caramel, toasted bread, herbal, and floral/grassy earthiness. Nice aromas with good balance and complexity of citrus/earthy/pine hops and moderate bready malt notes; with good strength. Taste of big grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, peach, lemon zest, orange peel, citrus rind, light pepper, pine, light caramel, toasted bread, herbal, and floral/grassy earthiness. Moderate pine/citrus rind/grassy/spicy bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, peach, lemon/orange peel, citrus rind, pepper, pine, light caramel, toasted bread, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a while. Nice complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/earthy/pine hops and moderate bready malt flavors; with a nice malt/bitterness balance. Slight lingering hop astringency near the end of the glass, but not overwhelming. Moderate dryness from lingering bitterness and carbonation, increasing through the glass. Medium-high carbonation and medium body; with a very smooth, crisp, moderately sticky/resinous/rindy, and fairly creamy/bready/grainy balanced mouthfeel that is good. Zero warming alcohol for 6.9%. Overall this is a nice IPA. All around good complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/earthy/pine hops and moderate bready malt flavors; very smooth, crisp, and easy to drink; despite the bitter/drying finish and higher carbonation. Good hop vibrancy and nice solid malt backing, with minimal residual sweetness. A nicely enjoyable offering.

Moderately bitter hop taste of wet grass, soft grapefruit, and pine needles. Lingering bitter finish. A decent IPA.

Poured into a perfect pint. 3.75 A: Well hazed dark orange color. Two and a half fingers of frothy/creamy off-white head. Retention is good and plenty of lacing is left. 3.75 S: Sweet and citrusy. Orange and lemon really stand out. Bready yeast with caramel notes. Mildly floral. Focus is really the citrusy hops. 3.75 T: Tastes like the nose. Citrusy orange and lemon. Bready yeastiness. Decent neutral malt backbone with hints of caramel. 3.75 M: Medium body. Good moderate carbonation. Reasonably creamy and quite smooth. 3.75 D: Wasn’t expecting much as I’ve never even heard of the brewery, but this turned out to be a pretty good beer. ★ 646 characters DavoleBomb, Sep 11, 2013
