NOTE: Ratings for the cask version should not be posted here; it has a separate listing.
A traditional dark mild at 3.6% abv. The beer is well balanced with a full roast flavour. The use of Crystal malt and Roast Barley give a deep underlying characteristic flavour, which is balanced with Fuggles hops as the sole variety.

[330ml bottle] Deep reddish brown with a thin head from the bottle. Roasty, with a touch of caramel malt on the aroma. The palate is reasonably rich for a mild good toasty bitterness and a dark molasses aftertaste some coffee in there. Its almost like a shandy version of Theakstons Old Peculier. Really rather good [26042009]

An excellent dark mild with subtle yet interesting flavours. Light on the palate for such a dark beer and very smooth as youd expect with a mild. Good beer.

Bottled. A nearly black beer with an off-white head. Sweet malts in the nose with fruitiness and caramel. Sweet in the mouth too. A pretty decent depth of flavour although the sweetness dominates any roastiness. Its certainly nice enough though.
