Pasteurised bottle. Also available on keg as Old Smoothie Mild.
NOTE: Ratings for the cask version should not be posted here; it has a separate listing.
A traditional dark mild at 3.6% abv. The beer is well balanced with a full roast flavour. The use of Crystal malt and Roast Barley give a deep underlying characteristic flavour, which is balanced with Fuggles hops as the sole variety.

[330ml bottle] Deep reddish brown with a thin head from the bottle. Roasty, with a touch of caramel malt on the aroma. The palate is reasonably rich for a mild – good toasty bitterness and a dark molasses aftertaste – some coffee in there. It’s almost like a shandy version of Theakston’s Old Peculier. Really rather good [26042009]

An excellent dark mild with subtle yet interesting flavours. Light on the palate for such a dark beer and very smooth as you’d expect with a mild. Good beer.

maeib (8749) - Wootton, Northampton, Northamptonshire, ENGLAND - NOV 18, 2010
Bottled. A nearly black beer with an off-white head. Sweet malts in the nose with fruitiness and caramel. Sweet in the mouth too. A pretty decent depth of flavour although the sweetness dominates any roastiness. It’s certainly nice enough though.

YK23 (465) - Haifa, ISRAEL - NOV 5, 2010
At a tasting, thanks tomer: caramel, honey, roasted nuts, some mildly roasted malt, faint bonfire notes, some bitterness, some burnt wood, weak chocolaty notes, nice mild.
