COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Cask; Seasonal. Available January & February
A full bodied, warming ale of 4.7% ABV. Brewed with well-roasted malts and generous amounts of English hops, for a satisfying finish. The use of wheat malt as well as finest Pale Maris Otter malt results in a rich, full malty flavour. A blend of Fuggles and Goldings hops give good depth to the bitter finish of the beer.

tombyars (1664) - Saltcoats, - JAN 28, 2013
Tasted this in the Salt Cot, Saltcoats (JDW) in January 2013. Cask, handpump dispense. Clear pale mahogany in colour with a thin creamy buff head. Very slight note of warm yeasty bread but very short on the nose. Cracking creamy mouthfeel and good lacing. Pale malts give a full maltloaf base with plump juicy raisin fruit present. Citric hop tang noted in the fruity resiny aftertaste. Finish is dry and malty with woody vinous notes and grapefruit pith in this full bodied ESB. Worth seeking out.

Cask-conditioned at the Commercial Rooms (JDW), Bristol March 2017. Deep amber in colour, with a small, off-white, head. Caramel, ripe, bready, malts, a suggestion of red berry fruit, and a touch of leafy hop, before a moderately bitter finish. Fine.

Cask Pint at Wibbas Down (JDW), Wimbledon in Mar 2017 - Amber Red colour. Off-white head. Toasty malts, bready, caramel. Sweet orange fruity. Grassy hops. Sweet malty fruity throughout. Likeable easy drinking beer. (2017-03)

Theydon_Bois (18688) - Hazlemere, the lower Xhitlerns, Buckinghamshire, ENGLAND - MAR 31, 2017
Cask at the Falcon, HW, 30/03/17. Amber to copper with a decent beige covering. Nose is brown bread, toffee, biscuit, light fruit esters, a touch thin. Taste comprises biscuit, bread, toffee, straw, brown sugar, a trace of diacetyl me thinks. Medium bodied, moderate carbonation, drying close with a light chemical rinse and bittering effect. Not great.

Lore (2558) - Budapest, HUNGARY - MAR 30, 2017
Clear amber colour, medium sized slightly beige-ish creamy off-white head; aroma of some bread, caramel and minimal floral notes; taste of malty sweetness and toasted bitterness with a quite strange, but still good dried cherry-dark chocolate combo; if it was not that watery as it is, it could be a really good ale

Cask at the Back of Beyond (JDW), Reading. Amber with a negligible off-white head. Diacetyl and dust overlay too-sweet toffee malt. A dirty, dirty beer.

On cask @ the Booking Office. Appearance - golden with a nice fluffy head. Nose - interesting bitter cherry stone note. Toffee too. It culminates in a marzipan note. Taste - loads of the dried red fruit, marzipan again. Light toffee at the back. Palate - close to medium bodied with a creamy texture. The finish is dry and crunchy. Overall - this is great. Its a bit challenging but the effort gives a generous reward.
