3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle @ home. Pours big and brown with a black heart. Caramel, raisin, fruit, toffee apple sweetness. Chocolate on the finish not as sweet as i expected. This is a taste riot and it works and works well.
Smokey taste! Nice mouth feel. Malty backbone with all I can describe as a weird bitterness lingering around for a while on the palate. There’s nothing wrong with this product, but I’m hard to find any special characteristics. nihtila (3837) - Edinburgh, SCOTLAND - APR 6, 2015
Bottle from Appellation Wines. Pours dark brown with beige head. Nose is very sweet, brown sugar, toffee, nuts. Taste is dark malts, wood, brown sugar, toffee. GlasgowTAD (1874) - Glasgow, SCOTLAND - FEB 22, 2015
Bottle received as an extra from BenH - merci beaucoup! Pours like cola, a reddish tint of black with a large light brown eggshell head which recedes quickly into a foamy layer. Aroma is rye bread, roasted nuts with a hint of tablet. Taste is slightly roasty with molasses sweetness and a tinge of cold smokines akin to that of a cold smoked fish. Creamy and rich mouthfeel though the body is a little thin. jamestulloch (4265) - Edinburgh, SCOTLAND - JAN 27, 2015
Bottle from Cornelius. Deep ruby body with a medium beige head. Nice lacing. Aroma of toffee, tablet, treacle and coconut. Flavour of brown sugar, smoked malt, toffee and flat Vimto. Medium body with a sticky mouthfeel. Soft fizz. A sweet complex beer. MichaelAwesome (6545) - Wanne-Eickel, GERMANY - JAN 14, 2015
Erstaunlich.

Bottle from BenH - thank you! The ale has got a deep dark brown / blackish colour with an steady head and smooth body. Aroma of chocolate, malt and roast. Taste of mild roasted malt, very few smokey hints (thanks!), barley, wine, sherry, plums, chocolate and torf. Smooth to drink, very quaffable. Enjoyed it. 500ml bottle, 5.3% ABV: BBD Jan 15. Poured into a thistle shaped glass (Gordon Finest Gold) at home on 19 Dec 14. Dark ruby hue to the brown/chestnut body, the beige head soon fell away to a thin wisp and collar. Sweet, yet slightly smoky malts in the nose, mild chocolate notes within the aroma too. The taste is also smoky chocolate maltiness, add an alcoholic twist, a malt loaf doughy feel, dark, wine soaked raisins, dates and saltiness: tastes OK. Smooth, almost rich and creamy palate to the brew. A pleasant surprise and my treat after Grimsby Town won their football match this evening. Stuu666 (14563) - Edinburgh, SCOTLAND - JUN 7, 2014

500ml Bottle - Dark brown with red tinges. Fruity, roasted and smoky aroma with notes of caramel, oak and blackcurrant. Smoky, roasted and slightly sweet taste with notes of toffee, blackcurrant, raisins and ash. CraftRebellion (10) - London, - MAY 19, 2014
This has a great mouth feel reminiscent of a thick imperial stout. There is a deceptively long finish where the dark sugar/burnt sugar flavour comes through. There is a richness to this that starts with aroma’s of fruit and comes through as a light port as you drink. This is a delicious and light(ABV) alternative to my favourite 10%+ ISs.
