Deep amber colour, small creamy brown head. Aroma is coffee, smoked wood, some roasted malts, vanilla and mild alcohol. Flavour is roasted malts, dark fruits, smoked wood and peat. All in an excellent balance.
Bottled. Black, nearly opaque, no head. Tarry nose with a dash of blood. Dryish woith solid body. So roasty it turns resiny with metallic edges. Some plums and salt. Like listening to your favourite somg played through a distorted amplifier. madmitch76 (24807) - , Essex, ENGLAND - NOV 28, 2009

Bottle. Clear deep brown beer, untidy bubbly pale tan head. Palate is smooth and fairly dry with good fine carbonation. The dark malts are slightly roasty and carry a little dry coffee and mild cream. Trace of citric hop and then more obvious bitterness, but it’s never harsh. Finishes smooth and semi dry with bitterish dark chocolate lingering on. Decent.
Cask at Manchester Winter ale festial 08 ... Deep dark brown ... smokey roast woody malts ... smooth very chocolaty ... some bitterness... some coffeee ... little drying in linger. Leighton (21299) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - SEP 8, 2011
Cask at GBBF 2011, Day 2. This beer really did it for me. Pours dark brown with a bubbly, tan head. Rich cocoa nose, some roasted malt. Delicious flavor, rich and well-rounded dark cocoa, brown sugar, great roastiness. Medium bodied with fine carbonation. Light warming finish, light smoke, dark roast, dry mocha. Really great.
