3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
UPDATED: APR 28, 2015 Cask @ Duck & Drake, Leeds. Very dark with a thick frothy head. Full-bodied but not as strong tasting as its percentage may suggest. There’s a light coffee aroma and taste that’s fuller in its lingering aftertaste that becomes chocolatey.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Cask-conditioned at the Seven Stars, Bristol 6/10/2014. Near black with a thin, tan, head. Some chocolate character and plenty of roasted malts which, as the other raters have noted, finished off very bitter. Good.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Hand pulled at the Wellington, Birmingham. Sweet roastyness. Bitter burnt flavour, like choc on a bar-b-q. A little harsh and thin, but drinkable.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Cask conditioned handpump The Pub Leicester. A black beer with a loose bubbly whitish head. The aroma is slightly vegetal in an old fashioned malty way. Very bitter in the mouth with more vegetal character. Some roasty chocolate, but the bitterness really does dominate and makes it quite harsh.
