COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bottle; Unfiltered.
The only self-proclaimed ‘Belgian stout’ – 9% by volume – named after famed Belgian detective Hercule Poirrot and considered a World Classic.
Made in small batches, then lagered for ten days in German oak casks.
"The Hercule is considered by many to be a classic – very malty, but dry, with a hint of sweetness in the finish, and perfectly hopped. It has a very distinctive and intoxicating spicy aroma of fresh spruce that suddenly, irresistibly, fills the room when the swing-top is released. This unique house character probably derives from the strains of yeast used by the brewery – and possibly from the fermentation in oak – because the beers are made entirely of malt and hops, without any spices or sugar."

UPDATED: FEB 10, 2018 Bottle from Fountainhall Wines. It's dark brown with a quickly vanishing light tan head. It's a bit washy-looking if I'm honest. Aromas immediately gets it back on my good side. Chocolate, rum n raisin, little grassy, little dry fondant. Surprised to find a touch of sour fruitiness. But this is Belgium! Flavours have coffee and cocoa. Roasty and smooth. For the high ABVs its flavours are lighter than expected and nicely balanced. Surprisingly drinkable for a beer reaching towards double figures. The beer is soft, smooth and full bodied. Low prickly carbonation. It feels like a stout. It drinks great. This is a super stout. Smooth chocolate and roasted, bitter coffee bean with a slight twang of fruity wild yeast.

Damn good; only complaint being the body is thinner than usual for the style. Pours a dark black with brown edges, thin tan head dissipates quite quickly. The nose is rich, roasted coffee, bakers chocolate, belgian esters, quite herbacious. Notable Belgian flavour with a bit of star anise, prunes, dark, bitter chocolate, spicy and floral hop notes. No carbonation, medium body, aftertaste is bitter and astringent. There is bit of sweetness but it finished dry and bitter. Overall a fine brew!

Bottle. Black color, foam goes off quite fast leaving just thin layer. Coffee, chockolade aroma but unfortunetly alcohol aroma is the strongest. As many Belgium beers it has high alcohol volume. Surprisingly alcohol is not so strong in taste, coffee taste and bitter chockolade. Dry and malty indeed. Fortunetly not so much CO2 as in many Belgium beers. Overal quite good if you like strong stouts.

Uzupełnienie profilu notatki. Piana drobna zbita, zdobi szkło. Kolor ciemny zmętniony z czerwonymi prześwitami. Aromat ciemne słody, czekolada, lekko owoce, karmel, mało intensywny. Smak szorstka chropowatość ciemnych słodów, karmel, dębina, belgijska owocowośc, przyprawowe ostre nuty drożdżowe, kwaskowe palone nuty. Słodycz umiarkowana, alkohol ukryty, ledwie wyczuwalny. Bardzo Dobry RIS o wyraźnym belgijskim rodowodzie.

Bottle. Dark Brown with a light tan head. Smells of roasted malts, caramel and toffee with coffee & chocolate. Sweet & smooth on the palate with the Alcohol well hidden and a dry finish. Very drinkable.

Une bonne stout de Belgique, cadeau de mes parents, elle est très brune. Au gout, elle passe bien. Ses 9% ne se font pas sentir, la levure belge est plutot discréte. Bonne donc!

UPDATED: JAN 7, 2018 Aromas of yeast, roasted malt, dark chocolate, oak and subtle vanilla. Taste of malt, dark chocolate, a bit of caramel, subtle coffee and a hint of vanilla. Very well balanced aftertaste of sweet and bitter with a reminder of dark chocolate and the high abv.
