Pours black, with a medium beige head, little lacing. Aroma of roasted malts, chocolate and spruce. Tastes roasty bitter, very chocolatey, not too complex, quite simple. Oak casks add a bit of wood but not as expected. Feels very light besides its ABV. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, bitter finish. Decent. sinfull (1906) - Brooklyn, New York, USA - MAR 15, 2018
UPDATED: MAR 15, 2018 Black with were little, beige head. Dark fruits, raisins, roasted malt and chocolate in aroma. Sweet, malty taste with moderate, roasted bitterness. Full-bodied and smooth. Davros IX (697) - Hertford, Hertfordshire, ENGLAND - MAR 9, 2018
Bottle at home from Beers of Belgium. I've always wanted to try this beer because I like the bottle shape and beer name and I am a shallow individual. A great pour with a deep, dark brown in the glass and a good head. The aroma was all roasted malts and this was taken forward into the flavour. The taste filled my mouth with loveliness and the mouthfeel was caressing. The alcohol was definitely there, but added another layer to the taste and texture. This did not disappoint and I would very happily drink this again and again.

Thuis uit een beugelfles. Bijna zwart, bruin schuim.
UPDATED: MAR 3, 2018 This stout in my opinion misses a lot of character. Its a nice, mouty beer though. rodsquad (465) - Aberdeen, SCOTLAND - FEB 10, 2018
UPDATED: FEB 10, 2018 Bottle from Fountainhall Wines. It's dark brown with a quickly vanishing light tan head. It's a bit washy-looking if I'm honest. Aromas immediately gets it back on my good side. Chocolate, rum n raisin, little grassy, little dry fondant. Surprised to find a touch of sour fruitiness. But this is Belgium! Flavours have coffee and cocoa. Roasty and smooth. For the high ABVs its flavours are lighter than expected and nicely balanced. Surprisingly drinkable for a beer reaching towards double figures. The beer is soft, smooth and full bodied. Low prickly carbonation. It feels like a stout. It drinks great. This is a super stout. Smooth chocolate and roasted, bitter coffee bean with a slight twang of fruity wild yeast. mmmeinike (514) - Odense, DENMARK - JAN 11, 2018
Dark brown almost black with a tan head. Aroma is malty, chocolate, licorice and sweet. Taste of roasted malt, licorice, vanilla and som coca/chocolate. patricks110 (2897) - Alberta, CANADA - JAN 11, 2018
Damn good; only complaint being the body is thinner than usual for the style. Pours a dark black with brown edges, thin tan head dissipates quite quickly. The nose is rich, roasted coffee, bakers chocolate, belgian esters, quite herbacious. Notable Belgian flavour with a bit of star anise, prunes, dark, bitter chocolate, spicy and floral hop notes. No carbonation, medium body, aftertaste is bitter and astringent. There is bit of sweetness but it finished dry and bitter. Overall a fine brew!
