UPDATED: OCT 19, 2008 My bottle (650ml) shared with HogTownHarry & tupalev. Pours a hazy orange-copper with a small diminishing fluffy white head. Aroma of caramel malt, citrus and floral hops, some sweetness and light spices. Flavour’s the same: Caramel malt, citrus and floral hops, light spices and with a touch of alcohol. Medium bodied. Pretty good. GodOfThunder (1249) - Orlando, Florida, USA - SEP 16, 2008
Pours a nice amber with a good hoppy scent and lots of lacing.
The taste was very sweet. I think this was because I got an old bottle. The hops were real mellow and sweetness reigned supreme. I actually love this flavor, so it was pretty good for me. I really could drink a lot of this, but I suppose the hops are much stronger normally. I would like to get some more of this and try it again.

Bottle (22oz). Shared by blankboy with me and tupalev. Slightly hazy amber pour, average lasting fluffy off-white head. Juicy citrus/light resin aroma, quite a bit of fruity malt - not a big alcohol or bitterness monster at all - double IPA? Really? The taste is still quite juicy - orange and tangerine, with low-level dry bitterness that does build slowly, but still, not imperial at all, and only moderate alcohol - the bottle says 11.5% but no way. Average body, light astringency and carbonation, medium-quick finish. A nice pale ale, with maybe a little more hop bitterness .... and why is there another Ellicottville entry called Imperial Pale Ale? The bottle says 10.5% I’m confused - it goes here for now. probstblueribbon (3791) - Nepean, Ontario, CANADA - SEP 1, 2008

App.: Fairly deep amber, clear, no head.
Aroma: The classic, oh-so-American marmalade on dark rye, heavy citrus/pine hops surrounded by gooey toffee and caramel with dark burnt sugar and rye bread crust.
Palate: Medium+ body and almost no carbonation.
Flav.: Much like the nose, quite sweet, lots of brunt sugar, malt and citrus hops.
Hilarious name, classic American IIPA.
[1594-20080816] 1pt0.9floz bottle. Lightly spiced floral aroma. Hazy, light brown orange body with a quick foamy off-white head. Lightly sour characteristics in the flavour with some bitterness. Medium body seems soft. Quite drinkable.

Thanks to July Secret Santa for this week. Pours a dried apricot color with a great one finger frothy head and nice lacing. Nose of musty hops, orange peel and peaches. Flavor is full bodied, with a pleseant malt flavor up front that turns into a caramel and sweet hop flavor....oranges, floral and grass notes. Finish is lingering and sweet. Thanks SS. On tap at NY Wine & Culinary Center. Fresh grassy hops aroma, with sweet and musky caramel and grapefruit rind. A bit weak, though. Hazy deep copper-orange, with creamy off-white lacing head. Medium heavy watery body, with medium carbonation, light warming. Starts fairly sweet with caramel and brown sugar, heavy syrup flavor, with orange rind and grassy hop bitterness. Fairly clean finish, with warming alcohol and a lingering sweet after. cbkschubert (2901) - BFE, Arizona, USA - JUL 11, 2008
22 oz. bottle from Consumer Beverage - Pours a slightly hazy golden color with a small off white head. Nice layered lacing. Aroma is floral and pine hops. Flavor is sweet toasted malt, esters, and hops. A decent balance. Medium body. The alcohol becomes noticeable as the beer warms. A good beer. blipp (9598) - La Mesa, California, USA - JUN 24, 2008
22 Oz bottle. Pours orange with an off white head. Aroma is sweet floral and citric hops, with a hint of caramel. Smooth, medium body. Flavor brings floral, grassy and citric notes, as well as caramel and lightly roasted malty notes. Alcohol is very well hidden. Very tasty and easy drinking. estoppel (1028) - Buffalo, New York, USA - JUN 16, 2008
Bottle. Very clear amber body, off-white head, malty nose. Malty body with a lot of crystal, moderate bitterness, minimal hop character (some spicy notes, perhaps), a lot of alcohol. Definitely not a good example of the IIPA style; would make a decent barleywine, I suppose.
