after4ever (8025) - Mukilteo, Washington, USA - JAN 10, 2010
draft at the brewery. jet black with a towering moussy dark tan head. loose stringy lace coming down the side of the glass. sweet, almost tangy chocolate nose. plenty of cheap coffee there as well, maybe a little basement to boot. creamy thick body. chocolate, coffee, and char on the mid palate. lingering char finish. big and tasty and fun to drink, could stand some subtlety and complexity. no clue on the vintage here.

riversideAK (6261) - Shoreline, Washington, USA - JAN 10, 2010
Nose is full of sweet chocolate, some roast, caramel, and a little dark fruit. Pours almost black, brownish undertones, no head or lace. Sweet and chocolatey with some dark fruity notes. Light roasted malt shows up, but this is a chocolatey impy stout. Some noticeable alcohol with an almost viscous body. Creamy and almost smooth.

DJMonarch (9179) - Northwich, Cheshire, ENGLAND - JUL 11, 2009
From the Jug at the GABF, Colorado Convention Center 13/10/2007 Coffee roast aroma. Small beige head. Black strong in alcohol and hoppy with a crisp and bitter coffee roast finish.

GriffinAvenue (396) - Winchester, Massachusetts, USA - JAN 5, 2008
Draft. Fudge black color. No head, but subtle tan rim around the edges. Raisins, chocolatey, with hint of apple. Thin, syrupy-like flavoring with soda consistency and body. Not much beyond initial punch to recommend it - though high alcohol content does make an appearance in the deep recesses of the throat. Ok, but really a disappointment given how much richness an imperial stout style affords the brewer. Seemed flat and unimaginative.

CaptainCougar (7133) - Columbia, Maryland, USA - DEC 14, 2007
On tap at the 2007 GABF: Barely transparent dark mahogany pour has a tan ring of head. Aroma of lightly sweet dark caramel malt with a hint of pear and dark chocolate. Body is fairly thick with a sticky caramel malty sweetness and some tart light fruity notes toward a doughy finish. Needs a little more balance.

goldtwins (4320) - Nesconset, New York, USA - OCT 30, 2007
GABF 2007: Poured a deep brown with a tan head. The beer had an alcohol nose. Also notes of old coffee and some roasted malt. The flavor was also of old coffee and a touch of tartness. The finish leaves coffee in the mouth. Very dry. Medium to full bodied with a silk mouthfeel.

glkaiser (1214) - Seattle, Washington, USA - JUN 4, 2007
Black with good head. Chocolate aroma with decent roasted grains. Too sweet for my liking...doesn’t taste, or feel, like 9%.

BuckeyeBoy (7663) - Boise, Idaho, USA - JUN 1, 2007
On tap at Brewpub Seattle. Pours out a almost black topped with a tan head. A nice burnt malt aroma and tast. A little think for an Imperial Stout. 9% on this one.
