Draft at Elliot Bay, Lake City. Deep ruby brown, tight foam. All sweetness here. Spicy alc, roasty spices. warming. Some vague roast/smoke, but overall residually sweet and buttery. Not great, and not very refined. OldMrCrow (2437) - Seattle, Washington, USA - JUN 25, 2012

This one had the misfortune to follow a glass of Black Raven Brown Porter, and frankly couldn’t keep up despite the elevated ABV. Sweet but without the depth of character, dark fruit meeting chocolate syrup. Perfectly drinkable and without overt flaws, but just nothing exceptional in character.
My Bottom Line:BillKismet (4064) - Seattle, Washington, USA - FEB 16, 2011
Lactose, figs and blueberries agree with this Strong Porter’s spicy hops, as roasted cereals mostly control the finish.
Further Personal Perceptions:
-A veil of foam skirts the dark brown.
-Chestnuts also appear in the flavor profile.
-The flavor profile is balanced throughout, and the body is rather lean, making for great drinkability despite the announced heft.
-I would’ve liked more complexity from the malts, but this was still a fine Porter.
On tap at Uber Tavern.
Mahogany body with a silken head. Mild malt nose is coaxed off the glass and accompanied by some fruit hop. Off-kilter fruity body that is decidedly un-porter like. This seems more akin to a blend of the English Strong Ale and Brown Porter styles that is dubiously accomplished. Characterized by a moderate depth of fruit malt. Middling on the whole anders37 (26641) - Malmö, SWEDEN - DEC 11, 2010
Draft @ Elliott Bay Brewhouse and Pub, Burien, WA. Pours a dark brown color with ruby hints and a small off-white head. Has a fruity malty slightly roasted aroma with hints of dark fruit and chocolate. Sweetish roasted malty chocolate flavor. Has a roasted malty sweetish chocolate finish.

Draft at Uber. Pours nearly jet black with a dense and creamy dark tan head that sticks around forever and ever. Lots of webby lacing coming down the side of the glass, and all the way down to the bottom of the empty while it’s at it. Nice sweet chocolatey nose, bits of roast in there but mostly sweet malt sugar and tons of chocolate. Creamy medium body with lively carb, but, really, there’s a lot of malt to push through in this one, so it doesn’t feel fizzy. Chocolatey, roasty mid-palate, with a nice dry dark brown toast note as it finishes. Solid, drinkable big porter on the sweet side. boFNjackson (4201) - Portland, Oregon, USA - JUL 17, 2010
Tap @ Uber Tavern... Poured deep, dark brown with a thin head. Lots of sweet tones with vanilla and roast with hints cocoa, almond, and sweet cream, and even coffee roast. MaltOMeal (1094) - Land of Sugar, Texas, USA - JUL 6, 2010
Sampler at the brewpub. Pours black with a tan head. Nose is of faint coffee. Taste is coffee and caramel malt. Mouthfeel is medium-thin. BrewDad (5328) - Olympia, Washington, USA - JUN 28, 2010
Washington Brewers Festival 2010 – Kenmore, WA
This beer was brewed by Elliot Bay for the Washington Brewers Festival WABL beer. Dark brown in color. Big dark roasty malts with coffee and toffee aroma and flavors. Lots of alcohol in the nose and finish flavors. This was a big beer and tasty. Very chewy and no need for more than one glass.
