Not what I expected. At first taste it's confusing. Can't discern the flavors. Then you realize it's got a raspberry under flavor and the chocolate of a standard stout. Mrnoluv (354) - long beach, California, USA - JUL 19, 2015
One of the worst beers I have had in years!!! Wow, this was incredibly bad. You would think there would be some sweetness to even out the tart, sour, funky taste but not really. Just grab a bottle of Russian River Damnation, pour sour raspberry and wheatgrass and you have the idea of this beer! NOT GOOD AT ALL. daknole (11049) - Scottsdale, Arizona, USA - JUL 4, 2015
Brown pour, light tan head. This is a fruit beer meets quad meets porter. Interesting beer. reebtogi (6267) - Edmonton, Alberta, CANADA - JUN 14, 2015
650ml bottle pours almost black in color with 2 fingers of off-white head that leaves some decent lacing on the glass. Aroma is raspberries with some chocolate and roasted grains and a hint of yeast. Taste is a raspberry tartness with a chocolate malty sweetness and roasted grain bitterness with a dry yeasty finish. Medium bodied with nice carbonation that pleases the palate. Overall, this is a really enjoyable brew with a nice balance. ffaoe (792) - Moorestown, New Jersey, USA - JUN 12, 2015
awesome raspberry/chocolate aroma, color is pitch black with a foamy light brown head. roasty chocolaty flavor up from then transitions to a slight raspberry flavor. faint aftertaste is of a chocolate covered raspberry.

651 ml. bottle. Vintage 2015. 7.9% ABV per the label.. Pours a medium, tiny bubbled, well retained, light beige, head, with slight lacing, over a clear, slightly red, dark brown (SRM 30) body.....nose is roasted malts with coffee, slight chocolate, very light raspberry, no hops, balance to the malts.....taste is slightly raspberry sweet, with heavily roasted malts with coffee, slight chocolate, finishing mildly hop bitter, balance to the malts......mouth feel, heavy of medium body, light alcohol, sticky, carbonation creates a creamy mouthful. This is a different recipe from the original as shown by the increased ABV. It is not as complex as anticipated, with the relatively dominant roasted malts, relatively hidden yeast contributions, and light additions from the raspberry. It would be better with slightly less highly roasted malts, which would allow a bit more chocolate cocoa notes and less coffee. Deep dark brown coloured body with a large-bubbled head just showing a touch of deep brown colours. Strong chocolate and spice in the nose with a bit of raspberry and grain, but a lot of roasted malt and a bit of coffee as well. Medium-bodied; Strong roasty flavours with some lactose and coffee noticeable, but a large presence of malt, raspberries and grain. Aftertaste shows some malt and coffee with milk sugars and some cream noticeable, all finishing with some raspberries. Overall, a nicely balanced beer with a good profile and a touch of fruit. This naturally should be classified as a sweet stout, but a good beer, not great and not bad throughout. I sampled this 65 cL bottle purchased from Whole Foods in Washington (Foggy Bottom, Eye St NW), DC on 25-May-2015 for US$8,99 sampled at home in Washington on 01-June-2015. hopdog (12510) - Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA - MAY 26, 2015
On tap at Capone’s. Poured a black color with a smaller sized off white head. Berries, roast, and chocolate. pictoman (1126) - British Columbia, CANADA - MAY 24, 2015
Poured from the tap. Black with minimal beige head. Mild roast malt, very subtle raspberry sweetness, a little spicy Belgian yeast at the end. A little light. stantheman (1050) - British Columbia, CANADA - MAY 19, 2015
On tap taster at St Augustine’s in Vancouver. A very dark almost black beer with a light tan head and lacing, with a fruity and roasted nose. Fruity for sure, faintly raspberry, malty, low bitterness. More raspberry on the finish. 3.3.
