Visual: (cellared for almost 2 years). Pours dark coffee brown with a dissipating 1cm head, sticky lacing, fine ringed retention with a large island, lots of micro streams near the surface.
Nose: woody barley malt, big raspberry overtones (lvl-7)-pungency
Attack: crisp, subdued light sour
Mid-palate: almost creamy, clean juicy raspberry, deep roasted barley malt, (lvl-4-sweetness), cocoa
Finish: brown sugar-molasses, mild bittersweet vanilla, mild tartness
Summary: Clean entry and great balance from start to finish. The raspberry flavour comes through 100% and is integrated well with the bittersweet malt. Extremely sippable and interesting, though I wished for a bit more creaminess and body in the mids as well as a touch more vanilla and coffee. cobaink2 (847) - seattle, Washington, USA - MAR 7, 2017
22oz bottle. Pour into shaker glass. Maybe 4 or 5 years vintage. Of the last ones of this series this mIght have been one of the better ones that stood the test of time. Nice rasberry with chocolate and lactose. Really hearty body on this. Really like this. MrTipple (7004) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - MAR 31, 2016

22oz bottle pours out black topped with a tan head. Nose is roast malts some belg spice yeast a little raspberry hint aswell. Taste is more of the roast malts some chocolate sweetness a touch of the berries and the Belg touch gives it a interesting end. corby112 (2813) - philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA - NOV 12, 2015
Pours a dark chestnut brown color with faint mahogany edges and a one finger tan head that immediately settles into a thin ring. Spotty lacing left behind.
Roasted dark malt aroma with vinous dark fruit and subtle spice. Some burnt toast, oatmeal, dark chocolate and coffee bean along with candy sugar, pepper, dark cherry, raisin and raspberry. Slightly smokey with faint lactose and lighter chocolate as well but the balance of roasted malt and dark fruits dominate the nose.
Medium bodied with a strong smokey, roasted roasted malt presence that’s countered by the Belgian yeast, spices and dark fruit notes. Very similar to the aroma with burnt toast, oatmeal, dark chocolate and espresso bean followed by pepper, licorice, candy sugar and dark berries. Slightly syrupy/medicinal with strong raspberry sweetness lingering in the finish. Decently balanced but the raspberry/dark fruits don’t come in until the end of the sip and the roast is a bit too strong in this store for my preference. Still, it’s a decent beer that’s fairly easy to drink. egajdzis (6833) - Pennsburg, Pennsylvania, USA - OCT 26, 2015
Opaque black with a small, tan head that left nice lacing on the glass. Aroma of roasted malts, raspberry, charred wood, and some cocoa. Taste of roast, cocoa, raspberries. obxdude10 (2392) - Pottstown, Pennsylvania, USA - OCT 16, 2015
On draft at the Butcher and Barkeep. Quickly becoming one of my newest favorite places! This beer poured an almost black color with a nice tan head that laced nicely around the glass. The nose didn’t tip off the raspberries much. There was mostly light chocolate, toasted malt, cream and a hint of hops in the aroma. But as you finish that first taste, the fruit comes through in a big way. The texture is very creamy and smooth and the flavors are well balanced. There isn’t an overload on the fruit to make the beer too overwhelming. Overall, the flavor profile is on the sweet side with plenty of raspberry. But the light hops, creamy tone and deep malt balance the beer nicely.
