Tap art the Stagshead while trying to procrastinate going grocery shopping. Pours jet black with small purplish head. nose is roasty and of cocoa and light fruit. You get hints of raspberry’s on palate but not overwhelmingly so. You also get roasted malt, cocoa powder, earth, and wood. nice and not too sweet
22oz bottle. Pour into shaker glass. Maybe 4 or 5 years vintage. Of the last ones of this series this mIght have been one of the better ones that stood the test of time. Aroma: chocolate, toasted, dark grain malts, molasses, light coffee. Appearance: black, small, creamy, beige head. Taste: light sweet. 22oz bottle pours out black topped with a tan head. Nose is roast malts some belg spice yeast a little raspberry hint aswell. Taste is more of the roast malts some chocolate sweetness a touch of the berries and the Belg touch gives it a interesting end.

Pours a dark chestnut brown color with faint mahogany edges and a one finger tan head that immediately settles into a thin ring. Spotty lacing left behind.
Roasted dark malt aroma with vinous dark fruit and subtle spice. Some burnt toast, oatmeal, dark chocolate and coffee bean along with candy sugar, pepper, dark cherry, raisin and raspberry. Slightly smokey with faint lactose and lighter chocolate as well but the balance of roasted malt and dark fruits dominate the nose.
Medium bodied with a strong smokey, roasted roasted malt presence that’s countered by the Belgian yeast, spices and dark fruit notes. Very similar to the aroma with burnt toast, oatmeal, dark chocolate and espresso bean followed by pepper, licorice, candy sugar and dark berries. Slightly syrupy/medicinal with strong raspberry sweetness lingering in the finish. Decently balanced but the raspberry/dark fruits don’t come in until the end of the sip and the roast is a bit too strong in this store for my preference. On draft at the Butcher and Barkeep. Quickly becoming one of my newest favorite places! This beer poured an almost black color with a nice tan head that laced nicely around the glass. The nose didn’t tip off the raspberries much. There was mostly light chocolate, toasted malt, cream and a hint of hops in the aroma. But as you finish that first taste, the fruit comes through in a big way. The texture is very creamy and smooth and the flavors are well balanced. There isn’t an overload on the fruit to make the beer too overwhelming. Overall, the flavor profile is on the sweet side with plenty of raspberry. From bottle, cellar aged one year. Pours dark with nice lacing and little head. the nose is of sweet stout malt and notes of raspberry. (draft @ The Old Toad - Rochester, NY) Dark black pour with a thick tan head. Dark roasted malts and light tart raspberry aroma with a hint of spice and yeast. Flavor is lots of roasted chocolate malts with a good blend of Belgian spices and yeast with a very subtle hint of raspberry at the finish. Really smooth.
