3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
THOUGHTS: Very nice. Tons and tons of cardamom. I could smell it as soon as it was poured. Very light and easy to drink for something with 7.3% ABV. If I had to guess, I would have guessed it was more around 5-5.5%. I hadn’t had a beer with that much cardamom in it since Weyerbacher Decadence.
TECHNICAL: Bottle. Poured a slightly hazy, dark yellow to light orange or golden with an average, off-white head that mostly diminished and left good lacing. The aroma was mostly cardamom, but also contained light to moderate pale malt; light floral and resinous hops; honey; pepper; spices; and herbs. The initial flavor was lightly sweet and slightly acidic; while the finish was moderately sweet, lightly acidic and lightly bitter with a fairly long duration. There was honey, pale malt, cardamom, floral hops, resinous hops, a strange aftertaste, peppery spice, herbs. The light to medium body was a bit oily with fairly soft carbonation and a metallic and spicy heat finish.
22oz bottle. Poured a golden color with an averaged sized head. Cardamon, spice, and some caramel. Not for me. cobaink2 (795) - seattle, Washington, USA - JAN 15, 2016
22oz bottle. Pours a light golden color. Lots of herbal cardamom on the nose. Quite surprise considering the age. Little salt on the back end. Quite a nice medium body. Really nice. BuckeyeBoy (8459) - Boise, Idaho, USA - NOV 10, 2015
22oz bottle during the set tasting. Pours out a hazy straw color topped with a small soap head. Nose is full on cardamom as advertised along with some herbal notes. Taste is more of the heavy cardamom spice some cinnamon and a little caramel sweetness. harrymel (1551) - Spokane, Washington, USA - DEC 12, 2013
Diaphanous amber (a little dark for the style) with white soapy bubbles about the surface. Smells strongly of cardamom and slightly with a hint of cinnamon. Not getting any particular pale character beyond the cardamom. Flavor follows suit with a hint of biscuit and actually reminds me of cheap pizza sausage. Medium on heavy for the style with light carb and a semi dry finish. I’m not impressed. But well, if you dig cardamom, then you might dig this.

This one poured a dark yellow color with a white head. Aroma was of caradmom and pale malt. Flavor was the same, just a weird spice to single out in a beer especially in this style. Not good.

Bottle on 7/11/2013. I wish I liked any of the beers in this series half as much as I like the concept or the artwork. It’s an ok beer, but it doesn’t quite work with the spices. The cardamom is great on the nose, but just doesn’t quite meld with the beer in flavor. Really light body doesn’t help support everything else going on. Bottle. Pours a cloudy golden orange with a small off-white head. Big cardamon aroma with herbs, pale malts and spices. Flavor was mostly of cardamon with herbs, floral hops, a bit of caramel subtle spices. AmEricanbrew (6954) - Same Trailer, Different Park, Louisiana, USA - FEB 28, 2013
Clear light amber color with fleeting ivory sheen. Big cardamon, mint, fresh herbal sweet aromas. Light to medium body. Nice cardamon, minty sweet flavors with a solid pale malt platform brew--very tasty Mora2000 (6158) - McKinney, Texas, USA - OCT 21, 2012
Thanks to 5000 for sending me this bottle.
The beer pours a hazy orange color with a white head. The aroma is very heavy on the herbal notes. I get some cardamom and ginger, as well as some rosemary. There is also a hint of biscuit malt and some orange citrus.
The flavor is also herbal. I get some biscuit and toffee, as well as some rosemary and cardamom. The orange citrus notes also come through, and they are joined by a little bit of grapefruit. The bitterness level is fairly low. There is also a bit of a minty, medicinal quality that goes well with the other flavors.
Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation.
