3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
THOUGHTS: Very unusual. At first I thought it tasted nothing like a beet and then all of a sudden it changed to almost all beets. And that process happened over and over with nearly every sip. Both sweet and earthy. An unusual but pleasant balance.
TECHNICAL: Bottle. Poured a light to medium pinkish red with a large, pinkish white head that mostly but slowly diminished. The aroma had moderate to heavy candy sugar; surprisingly beets, vegetable in a good way, earthiness, and dirt but in a good way. The initial flavor was moderately sweet and slightly acidc; while the finish was heavily sweet, and light to moderately bitter and acidic. There was candy sugar, earthy hops, actual beets and hints of citurs. The medium body went down easy and was a little dry with fizzy carbonation and a slightly alcoholic finish.
Granted this maybe 4 years old at this point but it’s not a bad beer, but really didn’t age very well. A deep Amber and apple juice color. Tastes of deep almost barleywine like it does have a nice body and a bit of apple juice like flavor without the sweetness. BuckeyeBoy (7680) - Boise, Idaho, USA - NOV 13, 2015
22oz bottle this was one of my favorite out of the set. I am a beet fan and they nailed it. Pours out a orangeish amber topped with a small head. Nose is earth tones beets dirt and a malty kick. Taste is more of the beets earth tones and a nice end. They nailed this one. DocLock (10689) - Lower Pottsgrove, Pennsylvania, USA - JUN 18, 2015
Bomber from the back of the DLBF. Pours turbid orange with 2-finger off-white head. Nose is caramel malt, hops, beets. Tastes of caramel malt, huge beety squashy notes, and some late honey and earthy flavor. Medium palate, but a bit of an odd taste. harrymel (1551) - Spokane, Washington, USA - DEC 7, 2013
#7 of 12 beers of the apocalypse.
From label: TORRENT Pale Beet Bock will tow you under with an earthy inundation of beets and malt, bringing satisfaction to the survivor in a beer the color of hellfire.
No lie in the color - certainly beets added here, a pretty rusty rose color with a pale pink sheet of foam atop. Smells of beets, grass, hay, some sweet malts. Taste is classic dirt beets - which I happen to like. There is plenty of sweetness lent from the bock malt bone, unfortunately not the best combo. Medium bodied with slightly hi carb and an off dry finish. Overall, this was an okay beer, the beets I’m certain are very, very polarizing for some. I happen to like beets very much, so this wasn’t too far of a stretch - and yet was overly sweetened.

Orange, with a short white head. Nice lacing. Earthy, sugary sweet aroma. Sweet taste, but not over-sweet. Slightly sour cardboard taste with a slight bitter aftertaste. A bit of chewiness, nice mouthfeel.

22 ounce bottle. Pours a hazy amber orange with a light pink hue. Small fluffy beige head. Sweet biscuity malt aroma with hints of beets (yes!) and ripe mango. Interesting flavor upfront with notes of peppery bitterness and tropical fruit sweetness. The sweet malt dominates but their is an underlying hoppy bite that lingers throughout. Medium bodied with a creamy mouthfeel that finishes dry and bittersweet. Steve_0 (3745) - Denver, Colorado, USA - JUN 30, 2013
Bottle at Aaron’s. Thanks man! Pour is hazy orange with a small white head and decent lacing. Vegetal, peppers, weird cardboard, bready, herbal, and tangy aroma. Taste is tangy, vegetal, stale malty, bready, grassy, lightly spicy and oxidized. Medium body with high carbonation. I hate you Aaron. cubs (10635) - Fort Collins, Colorado, USA - JUN 30, 2013
