3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
1/4 inch lacy white head. Cloudy bright orange color. Light loose sediment. Mild hop mild floral ester orange peel front. Medium light textured slightly creamy orange flavored smooth body. Slightly tangy bitter hint mild hop spice end. Pretty easy to drink. Mild hops and a touch bland. Wierd like all the Apocalypse Series.
22oz bottle pours out a hazy orangeish golden topped with a white head. Nose is citrus nice orange zest some hops still trying to hold on and a bit of sweetness. Taste is more of the orange citrus notes very present. Fresh I bet this was much better but still pretty good. andrewje41 (4170) - Kenmore, Washington, USA - AUG 2, 2015
Still holding on to a couple of these bottles, I had to really convince myself that they have held up 3 years after the apocalypse. Sometimes all it takes is a couple "opening acts" to convince me to dust off a bottle and crack it. This here is one of those. Everything about the pour and flavor to me says that it has held up nicely. Love the labels on these by the way. Pours a cloudy golden orange color with a lasting oily fizz head. Very mild orange aroma. Flavor is quite juicy. Orange juice like flavor with some big citrus hop flavor, and mild bitterness finish. Juicy orange and grapefruit late into the palate. Pretty good beer, and very glad it’s still good through the last few. Very similar to the Super Fuzz blood orange pale they have going now. Overall, a pretty good beer. I’ll be convinced now that the other apocalypse beers i’m sitting on will be equally as good. Beerdedone (3446) - Croydon, Pennsylvania, USA - JAN 1, 2014
Bottle. Pours a hazy golden orange with a medium white head. Hoppy aroma of pine, citrus, orange and grapefruit. Flavor was bitter with oranges, pine, citrusrind, bitter grapefruit and a hint of caramel. Medium bodied with soft carbonation, semi dry finish. harrymel (1551) - Spokane, Washington, USA - DEC 7, 2013
No bottle date. I think this should be listed as an APA rather than a Fruit beer, as it’s identified by the brewer as a Pale.
Turbid orange with loosely associated soapy whites around the rim and an etched surface. Nose is way hoppier than I had anticipated: dank, grapefruit, resin, some orange if I beg for it, but not particularly evident. If they didn’t say there was fruit, I wouldn’t guess it. Flavor is bitter, with some fruity character (mostly bitter grapefruit), not much more than resin and some biscuity undertones of malt. More like an IPA for me. Medium bodied with reserved carbonation and a semi dry finish. This is drinkable, but more like a sub par PNW IPA rather than a specially concocted fruit infused pale ale.

THOUGHTS: I was expecting some sort of super IPA, but this really used the blood orange as the balancing bitterness instead of hops. A very interesting and different beer.
TECHNICAL: Bottle. Poured a hazy, light reddish orange (unusual color) with a glow around the edges with a small, off-white head that mostly diminished and left good lacing. The aroma had light caramel; citrus hops; hints of vanilla; citrus rind; sweet, sour and bitter oranges; oranges, blood oranges, and citrus rind. The initial flavor was moderately sweet, lightly bitter and slightly sour; while the finish was moderately sweet, moderate to heavily bitter and lightly sour with a long duration. There was oranges, blood oranges, citrus rind, sweet oranges and bitter oranges. The light to medium body was sort of dry with sort of soft, but tingly carbonation and an acidic finish.

Unclear medium orange colour with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly to fully lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, caramel, moderate to heavy hoppy, orange - citrus, mandarin, blood orange. Flavour is moderate to heavy sweet and bitter with a long duration, orange, hoppy, orange peel. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft.
Pours a light honey color with a tall white head. Smells citrusy. Bold citrus flavor. The blood orange really comes through. Nice summer ale.

Draft at the stagshead. I swore of beer until I finished inputting backlog but that only lasted 2 days. Pours cloudy yellow orange with one finger soapy head. Orange and pine on nose. Tastes of blood orange, grapefruit, pine, resin, grassy, and light horse blanket. Dry on finish could use even more blood orange. podey (638) - New York, New York, USA - MAY 3, 2013
Draft at Stag’s Head. Pours hazy golden yellow with a medium white head. Good lacing. Aroma of sweet oranges, mostly the juice and rind, not the pith, and grassy hops. Taste is lightly hoppy and grassy with a good amount of citrus, mostly grapefruit and orange. Body is very light, almost a little watery. Wish the blood orange was a little more prominent. Bitter finish. BrewBoxer (2657) - New York, New York, USA - APR 25, 2013
Draft at Mudville 9 NYC. Pours a cloudy orange color with a hearty foam that lasts. Taste is tart, hoppy and wheaty with some sweetness. Very interesting!
