Tap at Elysian Fields, Seattle - 09/11/12.
Very hazy light orange with reddish hues.
Nose is bitter tropical fruits, pine, hops, orange.
Tastes of dark bitter orange - lightly soured, orange pith, bitter grapefruit, pine, quite an all round tarteness.
Medium bodied, soft carbonation, bitter finish.
Decent, like an IPA meets sour. Gerbeer (3674) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - JAN 4, 2013
650 ml bottle. Pours a hazy yellow/gold with light head. Aromas of pine, malt, tropical fruit, and funk. Flavors of malt and orange juice. Snappy and refreshing. after4ever (8025) - Mukilteo, Washington, USA - SEP 7, 2012
22. Pours a murky medium toffeeish orange with a dense and creamy whitish head. Pleasant fresh fruit nose, clearly showing the oranges. Creamy medium body with lively carb. Bitter grapefruitiness of the blood orange underneath the more familiar sweet citrus flavor. Mostly a showcase for the fruit. Mild dry finish. Good stuff. Had this at the stadium location before the Mens Room release party. Like every Elysian IPA this is damn good. Creamy texture and bursting with citrus hoppiness. Basically the orange citrus of the amarillos blends seamlessly with the subtle orange flavors. Tastes like an IPA and I love it. hivemind (914) - New York, New York, USA - DEC 30, 2012
On tap at Blind Tiger 12.20.2012 with Andy, James, Christian, Maggi. Dark orange pour. Tropical/citrus fruits abound. Grapefruit, mango, etc. Not sure if I can pick out orange zest/peel but interesting palate nevertheless. Unfortunately only tried a sip or two, but I liked it.

THOUGHTS: I was expecting some sort of super IPA, but this really used the blood orange as the balancing bitterness instead of hops. A very interesting and different beer.
TECHNICAL: Bottle. Poured a hazy, light reddish orange (unusual color) with a glow around the edges with a small, off-white head that mostly diminished and left good lacing. The aroma had light caramel; citrus hops; hints of vanilla; citrus rind; sweet, sour and bitter oranges; oranges, blood oranges, and citrus rind. The initial flavor was moderately sweet, lightly bitter and slightly sour; while the finish was moderately sweet, moderate to heavily bitter and lightly sour with a long duration. There was oranges, blood oranges, citrus rind, sweet oranges and bitter oranges. The light to medium body was sort of dry with sort of soft, but tingly carbonation and an acidic finish. andrewje41 (3741) - Kenmore, Washington, USA - AUG 2, 2015
Still holding on to a couple of these bottles, I had to really convince myself that they have held up 3 years after the apocalypse. Sometimes all it takes is a couple "opening acts" to convince me to dust off a bottle and crack it. This here is one of those. Everything about the pour and flavor to me says that it has held up nicely. Love the labels on these by the way. Pours a cloudy golden orange color with a lasting oily fizz head. Very mild orange aroma. Flavor is quite juicy. Orange juice like flavor with some big citrus hop flavor, and mild bitterness finish. Juicy orange and grapefruit late into the palate. Pretty good beer, and very glad itís still good through the last few. Very similar to the Super Fuzz blood orange pale they have going now. Overall, a pretty good beer. Iíll be convinced now that the other apocalypse beers iím sitting on will be equally as good. keepersj12 (3112) - Sicklerville, New Jersey, USA - AUG 23, 2012
I love their descriptions almost as much as the beers. This is very good indeed. The various ingredients combine to make a very interesting brew. Tart and refreshing, very easy going down. Everything works somehow.
