COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Down, down, down Maelstrom will go, pulling the hapless beer enthusiast in with a beguiling blend of blood orange, Northwest hops and sweet orange peel. Stray to close and you may not escape the currents of this tender trap. Blood orange provides tartness and the blush of a brazen sea, Citra and amarillo hops from the Yakima Valley offer bite and aroma, and orange peel suggests a little something else on the wind. Maelstrom is brewed with pale, Munich and Dextri-pils malts bittered with German Northern Brewer and finished and dry-hopped with Citra and Amarillo.

Shared with Drsilverworm at his flat when I had visited Cincy. Its a sediment-heavy tannish orange complexion; off-whitened head that grew and dropped like youthful spirits. Smells predominately of pine nuts, orange peels (incredibly distinct); lemon-scented fabric softener, Amarilla hops and malt. Tastes delicately of wood rosin, tangerines, spiciness/yeast, sea salt and cashews.

Bottle 65 cl. Courtesy of fiulijn. Pours a cloudy opaque deep golden with a creamy off-white head. Citrusy nose and also a lighter and sweeter orange note. Medium body, an initial light sweetness and then a massive bitterness. 230213

Draft at the stagshead. I swore of beer until I finished inputting backlog but that only lasted 2 days. Pours cloudy yellow orange with one finger soapy head. Orange and pine on nose. Tastes of blood orange, grapefruit, pine, resin, grassy, and light horse blanket. Dry on finish could use even more blood orange.

Pours a light honey color with a tall white head. Smells citrusy. Bold citrus flavor. The blood orange really comes through. Nice summer ale. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

22oz bottle pours out a hazy orangeish golden topped with a white head. Nose is citrus nice orange zest some hops still trying to hold on and a bit of sweetness. Taste is more of the orange citrus notes very present. Fresh I bet this was much better but still pretty good.

Tap @ Fifteenth Ave. Hophouse... Poured cloudy, pale orange with a thin head. Quite a bit of citrus here. Tasted of fermented Jolly Roger candies. Nice hop spice to balance. Somewhat drying, and full bodied. Good hoppiness with strong amount of orange citrus notes. A decent pair the two.

Poured from bottle from LetsPour. Pours an opaque, creamy yellow-orange with a small head and a delicious scent of citrus. The citrus is very pronounced but it is very well balanced with the other flavors of the beer. Good but not my favorite. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pour on tap at the Denver Rare Beer Tasting 2012, hazy orange pour with white head, aroma brought notes of bread caramel, toffee, biscuit, hints of grapefruit, orange, slight grass in there, hints of spice, slight vanilla as well. Taste is a mix of grapefruit, orange, hints of a slight tart fruit notes, hints of caramel, toffee and spice round it out, slight sweet vanilla, finishing fairly sweet, slightly bitter.

From a bottle poured an orange/copper color with a small amount of head. Sweet malty flavor with a lasting aftertaste.
