Lifeless dead appearance, like a fly caught in amber. Muddy light tan color. Is there actually any grain here? Is it carbonated? Very little aroma at all apart from just a whiff of Brach’s caramels. Then you taste it with a wallop of bitter orange jalapeno marmalade. Very small bubbles for the carbonation as the appearance suggests, but just way too unbalanced. Obviously skimped way too much on the malt and ends up being hops soup. With a touch of heat to it. Sadly disappointing.

I’m having a hard time getting a read on this beer. The aroma seemed just sugary without much else. Slightly hazy medium yellow body with a finely laced foamy white head. The taste is nice with a little baking spice and some pine hop bitterness. Good, slightly sweet caramel malt body offsets the bitterness nicely. Finishes with a lasting bitterness on the back sides of the tongue and residual sweetness. Definitely develops as it warms. Nice, I want to try this one again next year.

great malty smell with some light flowery hops, sweet malty taste with not much hops bitterness at all....little bit of a weird finish on end...starts up front too and gets stronger....what is that?? not sure, might be the hops but it is unpleasant. Gets weaker with faster drinking lol

Bottle. Clear amber with white head. Faint aroma. Some winter spice. Light grains. Flavor is grainy, light spice, low hops and bitterness. Easy. Alcohol is completely hidden. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

The aroma is hoppy, the appearance is a cloudy orange with a thin white head. Taste is slight bitter, strong beer but not too hard to drink. Overall okay.

bottle. amber orange with small head. fairly substantial body, almost pithy with grapefruit, citrus and light pine. plenty hoppy, but balanced well. doesn’t scream winter ale to me, but i enjoyed it.

Pours opaque gold with compact frothy head that doesnt hold well; honey and citrus fruits on the nose; juicy hoppy palate with a bitter oily finish.

In many ways, Bifrost drinks more like an IPA than your traditional winter ale, and there’s nothing wrong with that at all. Orange pour with some haziness. Northwestern American hop nose, but perhaps not as much as you’d expect. Flavor is fairly bitter and citrusy, though. Some notes of pine and spruce. Despite a more hop-forward taste, this is balanced quite well. I could still do with a few more hops. If there was a holiday version of Arrogant Bastard, it might taste similar to this.

12-ounce bottles in a large dimpled mug. A bit overly hopped than I prefer, but not as harsh as a typical IPA, and with more malt. The bottles I had stated an ABV of 8.3%. Easy drinking for such a strong beer.
