Ungstrup (34970) - Citizen of the universe, DENMARK - OCT 22, 2006
A hazy amber beer with a light orange head. The aroma is sweet malty with strong notes of hops, as well as lighter notes of alcohol and caramel. The flavor is sweet malty with primary notes of caramel, but also a light metallic note from the alcohol, leading to a dry alcoholic end, where the alcohol burns slightly in the top of the throat.

(Bottle 35,5 cl) Slightly hazy amber colour with a nice, creamy, yellowish brown head. Lovely aroma of sweet caramel and aroma hops. Full body with lots of sweetish caramel flavours and aroma hops. Some slightly medicinal notes. 211006

omhper (23892) - Tyres, SWEDEN - FEB 21, 2006
Draught at the brewpub. Hazy nut brown. Severely malty with tick and extremely syrupy mouthfeel. Theres plenty of grapefruity hops, but they drown in an ocean of syrup. Sticky bitter finish. Very raw and unrefined, hopefully some time in the cellar can mature the stickyness away, but I doubt itll ever become great.

Bottle from the brewpub on Pike st., vintage 2011, 2+ years old, 9.9% ABV
Hazy amber color with thin head. Vanilla scented caramel, the aroma is very old school (American school). Sweetish but not syrupy, with good malt and toffee flavor; correct bitterness, with final hop resins.
Not an exciting Barley Wine, nevertheless a good strong beer.

Golden-amber colour. Aroma has off-phenols. Rich brown sugary character with butter and nuts. That would make a good dessert, but as a barley wine, its a little odd. Warming finish. Long, tasty finish.

3 oz. sample on tap at Brouwers Caf for Hard Liver, pours golden orange. Aroma of citrus hops, tropical fruits and sweetness. Flavour of the tropical fruits, caramel and cotton candy cloyingly sweet finish. Quite decent.

Bottle from Malt & Vine. Likely quite fresh. Pours a ruddy copper with a slight off-white head. Aroma is quite malty/syrupy with just a touch of piney hop. Full bodied with mild carbonation. Flavor is pine over sweet caramel, along with lighter stone fruit. Nice. Finiishes more sweet than bitter. It has a very nice aftertaste.

Ratman197 (13652) - Arvada, Colorado, USA - APR 17, 2008
On tap @ Boulder Strong Ale Fest poured a clear copper with a small lingering ring of amber foam. Aromas of fruittiness, carmel and light vanilla. Palate was medium bodied, smooith and dry. Flavors of carmel, fruittiness, light toffee and a hint of vanilla with a smooth dry lingering bitter finish.
