3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
A delicious beer. Aroma was fantastic. Deep rich dark chocolate, pumpkin spices and milk. Pour was a deep dark brown/near black with a one finger off white head. Taste was delicious. A great mix of chocolate, pumpkin and ginger. Tasted like a chocolate covered gingerbread cookie. Decent carbonation. Great surprise!
Bottle. Black pour with a short tan head. Aroma is roasted malt, chocolate and pumpkin pie spices. Taste is chocolate and pumpkin pie with spices and roasted malt. Body is medium with a strong, bubbly and prickly carbonation. Ends with more pumpkin pie, chocolate cookies, roasted malt, vanilla and light coffee. Aroma of pumpkin spice and cocoa, pours a dark black with a thin tan head. Taste of pumpkin spice, and cocoa with a slightly watery body and a lightly bitter malt finish. Cybercat (6345) - Georgia, USA - NOV 23, 2017
Pours rich coffee with a fairly thick dirty tan head. Aroma delivers cinnamon, cloves, roast malt, chocolate, and a hint of coffee. Flavor presents all of the above plus a touch of - well, I suppose pumpkin. Definitely tastes like pumpkin pie plus smoky mocha, only a little spicier. As in clove and cinnamon, not hot peppers. Body is on the thin side for a stout, though fizz is good. Get moony - but please do so responsibly. Or call a cab, or Lyft. Jayb0 (1223) - Cherry Hill, New Jersey, USA - OCT 18, 2017
Bottle. Hands down the best pumpkin beer I've had. Pumpkin beers are not a favorite of mine, but finally we have a beer that incorporates pumpkin and spice without trying to be a pie. Instead they use the sweet and savory character, and enough cinnamon, to give the [excellent] base stout something special. The aroma is kick-ass. Loved it. donandres (687) - Makati, PHILIPPINES - OCT 14, 2017
22 ounce bottle poured to pint glass
Sight: dark, big foam, slowly disappears
Smell: fragrant stout aroma
Taste: medium bitterness, some sweet taste
Mouthfeel: long finish, bitter aftertaste
Overall: very good beer, can be repeat, but not something to look forward to

Dark pour with tan head. Aroma and taste are more cinnamon and nutmeg than pumpkin. Not a fan, but not bad Bricks (1160) - Delaware, USA - OCT 7, 2017
UPDATED: OCT 7, 2017 This seems like more of a cinnamon beer than a pumpkin beer to me. Wish it was slightly thicker on the palate. It is good, not great. Clarkdvm (543) - Florida, USA - SEP 26, 2017
UPDATED: SEP 26, 2017 22oz bottle. Quality pumpkin stout. 99 rating seems excessive but I must say, wonderful aroma. japancottrer (17) - JAPAN - JUN 3, 2017
Ah, the memories of autumn get togethers with family: Candied sweet potatoes baking in the oven and filling the house with smells of cinnamon, nutmeg, and allspice; cooled pumpkin pies, chocolate rum cakes, and other desserts stacked in odd, out-of-the-way places, and which lend their aromas to the house; drunk uncles shouting at sports on the TV. All came flooding back with a few sips of Elysian Dark O’The Moon.
A lot of cinnamon and nutmeg hits as you bring the pint up for a sip. Tastes strongly of cinnamon and nutmeg too, as well as chocolate; it’s a little overpowering at first, but it doesn’t take any effort to have a second, third, or fourth quaff. The pumpkin is less noticeable, but present, and there is also a hint of earthy flavors in the finish. Overall, the flavors balance very nicely here.
My only negative: It’s not much of a session beer. One pint was enough for me, sort of like one piece of pumpkin pie or chocolate rum cake, or one magic trick from your inebriated uncle during half time. marcus (10890) - Sacramento, California, USA - MAY 11, 2017
Bottle from Whole Foods, Sacramento. Pours near black with a thick tan head and a chocolate and spice aroma. There is a hearty roasted malt flavor, with chocolate, pumpkin, cinnamon and other spices. Not my cup of tea, but pretty good if you happen to like pumpkin.
