4.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
UPDATED: JUN 10, 2012 Very floral and citrus hop nose with a surprising malt backbone. Clear deep copper coloured body is topped by a generous and lasting white head that coats the glass with lacing. Nice caramel and toasted malt backbone supports citrus and floral hop flavours. Moderate bitterness keeps the sweetness in check but isn’t overly strong. Medium body with decent SPF bubbled carbonation. Lovely palate. Enjoyed on tap at Alibi Room. Not re-rating, but in the bottle I didn’t enjoy this nearly as much. It seemed a bit thin and one-dimensional. I would have rated the bottled version (from Liberty - Commercial in June 2012) as much as a full point lower.
Sampled on draft at Tapped this beer poured an orange-caramel color with a large fluffy orange-white head that lingered and left good lacing. The aroma was tart and tangy with fruity hops and faint tobacco. The flavor was bitter and somewhat rough with lemon, grapefruit and tobacco. Medium length finish. Medium body. bb (9789) - Alamo, California, USA - JUN 21, 2017

Bottle. Pale copper in colour with medium carbonation. Aromas are of grapefruit and orange pulp, lumber yard, and both pale and caramel malts. Strong grapefruit and tropical citrus flavor, along with a decent pale and caramel malt blend, and some darker herbal elements. Heavier bodied than expected with a chunky bitterness. Fairly old school in spite of the Nelson Sauvin, but still tasty. LadySusan (766) - Ste-Therese, Quebec, CANADA - AUG 24, 2016

Pours a clear copper color with a beige head. Nice lacing. Nose of citrus and tropical fruit. Seems guava to me. Near full bodied. Lots of floral and fruit. Not of Medium body. Flavor of caramel malts with citrus. Bitter finish. Great. slowrunner77 (12804) - Reno, Nevada, USA - OCT 27, 2015
More crisp and clean than expected but the hops are still fairly pungent. Fruity Nelson and some earthy dankness. Enjoyed the bomber. sulawang (1197) - - SEP 23, 2015
Visual: Pours almost clear toffee brown with a smallish head, a thin murky layer of retention, lots of fast steady streams.
Nose: brown sugar toffee malt, lightly toasted, traces of woody apple juice. (lvl-4)-pungency
Mid-palate: bright, (lvl-4)-sweetnesss, (MAIN) red apple, caramel maltd
Finish: alcohol detection, dry stealth mild bitter lingering hopped finish.
Summary: A rather fruity IPA as opposed to herbacious or piney; didn’t have a whole lot of passion fruit as advertised, but some citrus. Drinkable, but the finish is a bit flat. matthewjk (1127) - San Diego, California, USA - JUL 13, 2015
A better than average IPA that hits many appreciable notes: grove citrus, mellon, with a dry edge. This is very drinkable, but a tad thin in body for my liking. Overall, a nice 22oz bottle from Elysian.
