On tap at Falling Rock. Pours with a hazed brown body and a small tan head. Aromas are spicy, raisins, esters, light 4VG phenol. Flavors show some earthy pumpkin and cinnamon (among other pumpkin spices). Also some floral notes, fig, wheat. Medium bitterness. Spicy phenols. On tap at Blind Tiger, NYC. The aroma is wheat, spices, banana, pumpkin, dirt. The appearance is dark brown/red, white head. The flavor is spicy, clove , banana, dirt, pumpkin, mostly like a weizenbock. The finish is spicy, sweet, fruity. Medium in body. Mostly a weizenbock, with a dash of pumpkin. Cool experiment, though.

Nose of dark wheat, clovey spice, banana, and some light pumpkin pie spice notes which kind of blend with the estery yeast. Pours muddy brown, thin head. The flavor is spicy and wheaty with a good deal of banana and clove, light pumpkin pie notes, dark dry wheat, sweet spicy finish. Lingering ester and spice. Draft @ Falling Rock Elysian pumpkin fest ’11. Murky mahogany with stable tight head. Surprisingly herbal overtones like pine needles in the curious estery aroma that includes sweet banana. There is no clash between what seems incongruous aromas though. Lively carbonation. Great execution overall. Excellent body, depth. Finishes dry and clean, even crisp--yes you are allowed to use hops in a weizenbock thank f’n god. All my fears about a yeasty cloying mess have completely vanished. The dark malt and chocolate, and toasty flavors are brilliant. Then there is a lovely hop character. Then there is Bavarian yeast, and the very subtle pumpkin adding extra body, sugars, and depth. Again, this is an extraordinary accomplishment, there are few brewers in the world that could pull this off. Draft at GPBF. Cloudy dark brown with a loose creamy tan head. Big sweet caramel nose with some light spicing and bits of wheaty tang. Sweet banana and clove poke up through that but not in overwhelming abundance. Creamy medium body with lively carb. Nice combination of sweet caramel, wheat, spice, and yeast esters on the mid-palate: big cornucopia of flavors to tease apart, but a satisfying beer to drink for pure refreshment as well.
