Sweet malt aroma with a strong autumnal spice presence. Lots of brown sugar and cinnamon along with allspice, ginger and clove followed by sweet caramel malt, toffee and hazelnut. Supposed to be a pumpkin/birds de garde hybrid but feels just like a pumpkin/marzen.
Fuller bodied than expected and more of a hybrid of styles than the aroma suggested. Closer to a biere de garde/ pumpkin mix with a decent amount of autumnal spice but it doesn’t hit you over the head. This is complimented by caramel malt sweetness yet finishes clean and slightly earthy like a biere de garde. Hints of allspice, ginger and clove as well as some brown sugar and cinnamon but again, the spices aren’t overbearing. They are kept in check by hints of caramel malt, toffee, hazelnut and dark fruit notes. Slight pumpkin presence and the vegetal element goes well with the biere de garde notes. Slight earthy farmhouse epresence along with zesty spice and some light fruit flavor. Complex but not extreme, or overly spicy while remaining clean and easy to drink.

Strange brew that grew on me. Pours dark Amber with a thin head. The aroma is sour with some spices and a bit of funk. Same for the flavor. Very nice dry finish.

Draft pour at beer authority. Pours a deep, dark red color with a fading patchy head. A bit of a vegetable aroma, with a ton of spice. Interesting pumpkin beer here. A lot of spice up front, then mellows down to a nice mellow pumpkin flavor. Two good breweries coming together for a good beer. Good stuff.

Tap at The Davis Beer Shoppe. Pours hazy dark ruddy copper with a creamy off-white head. Aroma is sort of cooked squash with spice (but not really pie spice). Med body. On tap at Lost Abbey. Pours a burnt amber orange with a one finger off white head with nice lacing. Aroma is of pumpkin meat, pie spices, toasted bready malts, caramel, orange, and some light grassy hops. Taste is pretty similar to the aroma with the addition of some light spicy hops in the finish. Has a medium body with a semi creamy mouthfeel and a mostly sweet, medium finish. and vanilla. Mild grass. Flavor has a nice sweetness of vanilla and caramel. A lot of nutmeg spiciness. Some ginger, grass, and maybe some cinnamon. Nice.
UPDATED: APR 27, 2016 Draft at the brewery (Lost Abbey, not Elysian). Fall must be here. Dark brown and gold color. Very light aroma of just some vegetal notes and nutmeg. Flavor is slightly sweet with some caramel. A little allspice in the finish. Okay.
