Poured from a bomber bought in the Seattle area into a tumbler on 12.21.13. A: See through amber. S: Sweet smelling. Citrus, flower. T: Follows nose. Citrus, flower, slight bitterness at first. M: Crisp. O: This was decent at first, but then an acrid bitterness grew from the back end to overwhelm anything else. Elysian seems to like to over hop their beers. I love IIPAs with crazy high IBUs, but an overly hopped amber or stout (Dragonstooth)? No thanks. This would have been a drain pour, but a friend chugged it down.

Tap at Dig Beer Bar, Beer Cats Osaka Party event. Not much in the nose, some toasty maltiness maybe. Good roast malt initial, moderate bittering, with some bite to it. Not a lot of "red" character. Okay, but not much going on here.

On tap at Dig Bar. It pours a reddish amber with a malt forward caramel/toffee aroma. Medium bodied with a zesty mouthfeel. The taste is a satisfying malt caramel with a green bitter hop bite.

This was a nice red ale and a very good offering. Bold bitey flavor and a deep red pour.

"Nicely balanced caramel and fruity malt with lightly critic and tart fruity hops. I donít think the bottle I had was terribly fresh, and this was still pretty nice for an amber/pale. Iíd get again."

At brewery bar. Pours reddy amber with a white head. Very little aroma. Light body, medium carbonation. A little wood, caramel, orange... Thin and pretty dull all in all.

Burnt orange/copper colour with a slightly off white head. Big upfront scent of citrus and sweet toffee. Tastes a bit light on for a red, but then, it Is only a 5.6% which is a little less than the style usually produces. Iím tasting a slight hint of citrus hops but none of the promised-from-the-scent toffee. Smooth finish but a little less dense than Iíd have hoped for. Mild carbonation and some slight bitter end.

Reviewed from notes. This was poured into a pint glass. The appearance was a hazy burnt orange color with some light brown edges glowing. The head was about a fingerís worth of white foaminess that dissipated within less than a minute. There was some light speckled lacing. The smell had a fair amount of caramel malts over coating the citrus hops. The taste was mainly balanced between the caramel malts and citrus hops - nice sweet to bitter quality going on. On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a fairly decent sessionability about it. The carbonation was somewhat subdued but trying to show a gentle harshness. Overall, not a bad beer just not a spectacular one, just one to have when itís available.

An aroma of malt and sour dough. Copper colored not much head. Watery feel with a taste of malt with a malt after taste.
