Best Pumpkin of the year so far if you like the spice. No head ad no Lacing. Great Ale! TheBeerLover (1027) - DC Metro Area, USA - JAN 27, 2006
Pumpkin ale is the perfect beer to enjoy during the Fall season, and this style is usually available from September to November. I am a huge fan of this beer style, and Night Owl is one of the most complex and delicious versions of pumpkin ale I had had the pleasure of trying. This beer is brewed with 150 lbs of pumpkin meat in each batch along with pale, Munich, and crystal malts. Along with the pumpkin meat, green and roasted pumpkin seeds are added to the mash, boil, and fermenter. Horizon hops are used to bitter this beer, and then in the conditioning tanks this beer is spiced with nutmeg, clove, cinnamon, ginger and allspice. This makes for a very delicious, flavorful beer perfect to sit and relax with on a cool October afternoon.
Night Owl pours to a beautiful, burnt orange color with a thick and creamy white head, and a moderate amount of carbonation. The nose on this beer is wonderful with complex aromas of sweet malt and spice. Lots of good sweet malty aromas combine with pumpkin pie aromas of clove, cinnamon, and nutmeg. The palate on this beer is firm, with hearty malt flavors of biscuit, and sweet malt, paired with spicy/squashy flavors of pumpkin in the back ground. Night Owl finishes with more malt and pumpkin flavors up front, then ends with a spicy pumpkin pie spice flavors that linger on the tongue.
This is outstanding pumpkin ale that showcases real flavors of pumpkin meat with lots of real pumpkin pie aromas and flavors. What I really love about this beer is the spices do not overpower the malt and pumpkin flavors, and you really get the sense you are drinking a slice of pumpkin pie. If you find yourself in Seattle in the Fall, this beer is a must try on draught, or can be taken away in 22oz bottles at the brewpub, for $3 a bottle. Night Owl is a beer to savor and enjoy with crisp weather, or a nice beer to have with a desert of pumpkin pie with a big scoop of vanilla ice cream. At 6.1% abv it is the kind of beer you can have a few of, and just a great beer to enjoy and relax with taking in a football game or a good book. superspak (6228) - Waterford, Michigan, USA - NOV 12, 2012
22 ounce bottle into pint glass; no bottle dating, but was purchased recently. Pours hazy orange amber color with a 1 finger fairly dense off white head with nice retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Spotty soapy lacing clings down the glass. Aromas of big authentic pumpkin, clove, allspice, caramel, gingerbread, toast, cinnamon, nutmeg, and light herbal. Fantastic aromas with great strength and balance; this smells like I opened a can of pumpkin puree, very authentic. Taste of big pumpkin, cinnamon, nutmeg, gingerbread, caramel, toast, allspice, clove, and herbal. Minimal bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of pumpkin, cinnamon, gingerbread, caramel, toast, allspice, nutmeg, clove, and herbal on the finish for a good bit. Fantastic balance of flavors with a ton of authentic pumpkin; awesome malt/spice balance; zero cloying flavors on the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a fairly slick and lightly syrupy mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with nearly zero warming noticed after the finish. Overall this is an absolutely incredible Pumpkin ale. Great authentic pumpkin flavor with well balanced spices; extremely smooth to drink. Easily the best I have had in the pumpkin ale style. Wow. I have tried almost every seasonal Halloween release to date and this is far and away the best. Beautiful, rich orange pour with a fizzy head (didn’t last long sadly) that left little lacing. Huge amount of real pumpkin flavour which a lot of other seasonals lacked. A complex rich blend of spices such as cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice, cloves, etc. Delicious!! acp21178 (6) - Kings Park, New York, USA - AUG 26, 2012 does not count

22 oz. bottle. Poured hazy burnt orange with a somewhat quickly disappearing medium white head. Great balance of pumpkin pie spices with the malt flavor, finishing with a great pumpkin finish. Smooth and very drinkable. Terp1977 (69) - Frederick, Maryland, USA - OCT 7, 2012
Part of a pumpkin beer tasting. Finished 3rd out of 12. Really good, tastes more like unsweetened canned pumpkin but still has a hoppy profile. Very drinkable. Beerandhockey8 (444) - Three Forks, Montana, USA - SEP 16, 2013
From 22oz bottle to shaker. Pour is a nice coppe color, tint of orange with a rich off white head. The nose is awesome, heavy gingerbread, pumpkin, clove, cinnamon and malt. Taste is a medium body, mostly bitter but also a touch of sweet towards the finish. Carbonation is perfect. Phenomenal beer, have heard great things about Elysian fall seasonal beers and was definitely not disappointed. Got the pumpkin patch 4 pack, excited to see what the other 3 offer. Hazy orange slightly brown colored body with a one finger white foamy head that dissipates to a film coating the top of the glass, foamy clingy lacing graces the sides of the glass, the aromas has pumpkin up front, some cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, allspice, light caramel and an ever so slight dose of hops; the taste is an evenly awesome taste of the previously mentioned spices to the pumpkin sweetness, light pumpkin and spicey aftertaste, slightly dry finish; its pretty easy on the palate and comes across fairly smooth, overall, this is actually one of the best pumpkin ales on the market for what I’ve had mjmoen (628) - - SEP 9, 2017
B+. Pours a hazy burnt orange color with khaki head. Very drinkable with tasty pumpkin finish
