Bottle:   Bright straw, faint haze, orangish, thin frothy white head, spotty lacing.   Seems to have like a pink peppercorn like nose.   Lots of peppercorn, maybe even white.   Not getting any pear, at least on the nose.   Peppery start, perhaps a very faint aspect of pear.   The pepper aspect makes me think this should be a Blueberry beer instead.   If there is pear there, its very faint, too faint.   Body and mouthfeel are moderate.   Feels a little spritzy at times too.   Perhaps as it warms a little of the pear comes out, but all in all, this beer is mostly peppercorn of some variety.   Meh...

Tap. Pours a slightly hazy yellow gold body with a small wispy white head. The nose is quite spicy, smells like cinnamon and pear with some bready pale malt. Tastes just as spicy as it smells, not sure what all is in here, but tastes like cinnamon and sage or some other herb. Pretty light on the pear flavor, but there is some on the finish. Lingering herbal notes. Lighter bodied with fizzy prickly carbonation. Interesting, but I wouldn’t want a full bomber of it.

Location: 22 oz bottle from Sparrow, 12/1/13

Aroma: The nose is full of Asian spices (ginger, white pepper, and 5 spice) and, of course, pear
Appearance: It pours a hazed golden color with a small white head and some drippy lace
Flavor: The flavor is heavily spiced like the nose, with some medium fruity sweetness
Palate: The body is light-medium, it has a tingly, spicy feel, plus carbonation, and a dry finish
Overall Impression: First rating of December might as well be another In a long line of Asian spiced pear flavored beers. Boy is this a played out style. Seriously though, I love the creativity here. What a unique and awesome experiment. As a beer it is good, although it may not be my absolute favorite, but conceptually, I’m a huge fan.

Thanks to 5000 for sending me this bottle a few months back. Hazy yellow-orange color with a white head. The aroma is full of ginger as well as some pear notes. Quite spicy smelling. The flavor is very similar. There is a ton of ginger and cumin in the flavor as well as some sweet pear notes. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation. A definite spice bomb. My only complaint is that I wish the pear stood out more.

(bottle - 22 oz) Hazy orange pour with a fluffy white head. Heavy spice and pear sweetness in the aroma. Flavor though is a different story. Basically a mouthful of spices and bitter hops. You get a light fake fruity sweetness at the back but the spices destroy everything else.

On tap. Pours a cloudy golden yellow with a thick white head. Aroma of lots of spices (peppery, rye, bitter, ginger, clove) with light fruits and pear. Flavor of spices upfront with flowery perfume and light fruits in the finish. It is heavily spiced, probably more than it is pear-y. I was excited and afraid to try this beer but it is pretty good. 7/4/7/4/14 (3.6/5)

Tap at stags head finishing up strangest beer flight. Pours hazy golden with sweetband spicy nose. Tastes of candied pears, white pepper, coriander, floral, and blue cheese. Odd tasting and pretty sweet with artificial flavored finish.

50belair (3643) - Florida, USA - JUN 11, 2014
On tap at the brewery. Milky yellow pour with a white head. Pear and spice aromas. Interesting with pear, floral, and Indian spice notes. Average body with a good mouthfeel. Unique but definitely quaffable

maneliquor (3514) - Perth, AUSTRALIA - JUN 9, 2014
Tap at Mane Liquor. Pours like pear juice with a sticky and dense white head. Definitely looks the part of a pear beer. The first thing to hit you on the nose is ginger followed closely by oven baked pears, cinnamon, honey and cloves. Plenty of spice in this one. Taste is a little all over the place and at first was a bit of a shock to my palate but after a while you get used to it - heaps of ginger, mild apricot and pear, cinnamon, honeyed oats and grassiness. If you’re a ginger beer fan then you will probably dig this. A little sweet for my liking but the loaded spices are nice. Odd stuff, pretty solid

3.3
Beerdedone (3408) - Croydon, Pennsylvania, USA - DEC 30, 2014
Bottle. Pours a cloudy golden yellow with a average off-white head. Aroma of ginger, pears and spice. Flavor of pear skins, light fruit, ginger and pepper.
