I first had this beer at the elysian itself and loved it, but when I found it in a 22 at the local mart it did not impress me. In the bottle it's more bitter and has less fullness.
On tap at Elysium Bar. Super smooth, deep rich roasted flavours, great example of the style. djd07 (16289) - Houston, Texas, USA - NOV 23, 2016

Black with a thin head and lovely lace. Aroma is espresso with a hint of walnuts. Flavor is mellow if you sip it, but nice and bitter if you take a big drink. Coffee aftertaste. Good clean porter.

Dark brown to black color, teal head. Roasted, sweet taste. Medium mouthfeel, low bitterness. Roasted scent. Sweet aftertaste.
4 oz pour from tap into a cylindrical tasting glass at the brewery in Seattle. Black and opaque with a moderate head. Dry dark malts on the nose. A little earthy. Medium body. Dry. Taste is a step up from a typical English porter. Dry with a little smoke and a little chocolate. Flavorful, but nothing too obtrusive. Something I could drink a few of without much of a problem. The centennial add a nice bitterness, though I’m not getting much of their fruitiness. Probably intentional considering the style, but I still miss it a little. evergreen0199 (3561) - Northwood, Greater London, ENGLAND - OCT 13, 2014
On tap at The Ginger Man, New York, NY. A dark brown coloured pour with a medium white head on top. Roasty, malty, coffee aroma. Tastes simiar, roasty, malty, slight coffee, rather thin porter but alright.
