The appearance is dark dark brown, nearly black. Big, pimply, rocky head. Tan rings of lace. Looks sloshy and not stagnant. Dark, roasted mocha/coffee aromas. Raisin and dark grape. Unusual sweet candy flavor; really different and delicious. The taste is smooth mocha and bittersweet cocoa. The sweetness manifests itself as a cherry, grape and dark raisin. Some sour cherry/grape too. Goes from bitter to sweet-n-sour. The feel is chewy and creamy. Pretty smooth actually, for a porter. Its a smooth ans sweetish porter. I like it a lot. Raisin + mocha + breakfast blend coffee.

Black with a thin head and lovely lace. Aroma is espresso with a hint of walnuts. Flavor is mellow if you sip it, but nice and bitter if you take a big drink. Coffee aftertaste. Good clean porter.

4 oz pour from tap into a cylindrical tasting glass at the brewery in Seattle. Black and opaque with a moderate head. Dry dark malts on the nose. A little earthy. Medium body. Dry. Taste is a step up from a typical English porter. Dry with a little smoke and a little chocolate. Flavorful, but nothing too obtrusive. Something I could drink a few of without much of a problem. The centennial add a nice bitterness, though Im not getting much of their fruitiness. Probably intentional considering the style, but I still miss it a little.

On tap at The Ginger Man, New York, NY. A dark brown coloured pour with a medium white head on top. Roasty, malty, coffee aroma. Tastes simiar, roasty, malty, slight coffee, rather thin porter but alright.
