on tap at brewery. dark, dark brown color. Smoky scent, smoked taste that leave the tongue dry. roasted pumpkin seed aftertaste. The use of pumpkin is interesting in this beer, as the smoked flavor obscures most of the pumpkin taste. BillKismet (4090) - Seattle, Washington, USA - NOV 19, 2006
Dark bodied w. a cola head. Pleasant, deep, complex roasty aroma with a light smokiness. Like the stout, a nice roasted flavor, but no pumpkin.Chocolate notes, w. some graininess and the roastiness well-balanced by a soupcon of bitterness. A great porter, albeit lacking in pumpkin qualities. glkaiser (1214) - Seattle, Washington, USA - OCT 23, 2006
Definitely a tasty smoked porter...didn’t get much from the pumpkin, but who cares? Lots of smoke taste, but not fake tasting. I hope to try this again in a week or two at the other Elysian Pumpkin fests.
