2.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
On tap at the Tangletown location. Intended as an Australian-style sparkling ale, but they threw way too many dark malts in the mash for that. What is it? Light amber in colour, and hazy. The aroma has some pear esters and a hint of malt. The flavour is lightly toasty, with some husky astrigency (the sparkling ale thing to me demands a refined malt like Maris Otter, preferably decoction-mashed for extra melanoidins and Iíd be pretty surprised if that is what happened here). A little bit limited in terms of esters. Iím tending to agree with the Aussie contingent, too, about the shittiness of PoR. But Iíd love for the brewers to lighten this us, get funky with the yeast, and give this another go because it would be cool as hell.
