Darker-than expected orange pour with a lightly pink-orange tinted head. Nice saison aroma, peppercorns pretty forward, otherwise good dusty elements with modest but not excessive esters. Flavor is a bit sweet, a bit cloying, balanced by the nearly-spicy pepper. Orange. Mouthfeel is thick and not as refreshing as I’d like. I don’t understand why this needed to be brewed at 7%. US brewers need to learn to do saisons at 5% or below. Passable.
On tap at brewpub. A slightly hazy golden with a short lived white head. Aroma is pepper, lemon, vanilla. Flavor is lemon, vanilla. Finish is pepper, light sting from the peppercorn. Light to medium body, soft mouthfeel, average carbonation. NachlamSie (3466) - Denver, Colorado, USA - JUL 19, 2016
10 oz at WoB Belmar. Pours a cloudy light, light amber with a tall white head. Pungent peppercorn aroma is immediately noticed with a touch of orange and clove. The body is full with a finish not too dry or too sweet. Flavors of oranges start to develop beneath the peppercorn with some peppery esters and faint bubblegum. "man...another unique brew at this place. i thought the peppercorns would be too much in the flavor after smelling the beer, even though i thought the aroma was pretty cool. while they were not subtle, they weren’t at all overpowering either. you could still taste a well balanced ale underneath. maybe not one i’d have all the time, but pretty cool."

Pour on tap, hazy yellow pour with white head, aroma brought pepper, white fruit, grainy notes with some pear, slight white grape, hints of biscuit, bread, slight spicy tones as well. On tap at the abbey. Pours pink with no head. Aroma is musty and sweet. Flavor is black pepper with no heat, and a bubble gum finish, strangely tasty.
