Bottle from Legacy. Hazy, pretty much opaque soft orange color. The aroma is hop-forward, somewhat chewy and actually smells stronger than it is, but not in a bad way. The body is deceptive, it is fairly big, but highly drinkable. The best thing about this beer is its level of refinement. The fruit component is understated, adding nuance to a solid base beer rather than becoming an overly fruited gimmick. In fact, if I didn’t know there was orange here, I would not detect it. It’s more like, oh, that’s where that balancing bit of acidity comes from. Solid malt profile, mainly pales, with briskly hopped. As with most Elysian beers, accessible and sophisticated at the same time.

light orange with a 1 finger white head. citrus nose with a grainy undertone. citrus fades here and leaves me with a very light mouthfeel, light carb, a little orange juice contrencetrate and maybe some chewy malt.

Pours a hazy golden orange on tap with fluffy off-white head that leaves moderate lace. Aroma of mild bready malts and light clean citrus notes. Taste follows, more of the citrus, light bitterness, more than the nose here. Pretty decent.

Bottle from a supermarket in Brookings, Oregon. Aroma is citrus, blood orange, hops, with mild notes of tropical fruit and pale malt. Flavour is moderate sweet and above moderate bitter. Body is medium. The added blood orange blends really well with the hops. A citrus pale done right, drank this overlooking a beach which is the right setting for this beer.

220z Bottle. Pours looking like a standard Pale. Aroma of crisp citrusy hoips but not particularly fresh. Might be an old bottle as it was on sale and the local grocery store. Light crisp body and appropriate bitterness for a PA. A touch of bitter orange peel/pith to give it a bit of character. Decent.

Dark amber, reflects the blood orange. Soft white head and lace rings. Flavour has lots of citrus like biting an orange. Some hoppiness.

On tap @ Mudville 9. A really good looking big almost cartoon looking white dense head on top of a deep blurry, not cloudy but deep blurry almost glowing orange golden body. Looks like a million bucks. Nice fruity and a little bit tropical nose. I get a good dash of mango and peaches, some soft yeasty traces and the orange zest is also present. Not much but there. It’s above average on the carbonation and the mouthfeel is light oily. Nice bitter fruity flavors. More orange zest in the taste really, I get lots of grassy hops, peaches, some sweetness, but it’s more hoppy and bitter than sweet. I have to say that this is quite lovely actually. 16.06.2013

Bottle. Unfiltered. Sediment apparent. Orange color, very cloudy and murky. Hoppy citrus aroma. Blood orange smell. Nice flavor of malt, some hops, citrus, fairly well balanced. Edges on citrus forward. Lingering aftertaste, sweet and tangy. Nice.
