Bottle:   Amberish, thin white head, sudsy, sparce lacing.   Dirty biscuity nose, rotten apples, and minor alcohol.   Ugh, thats tough to drink... holy piss!   Slight band-aid, phenols up the ying yang, and a really old and musty/stale/rotten apple sorta background.   Taste like long johns soaked in watered down apple juice, mixed with gasoline.   Lots of alcoholic flavors, without even being that hot!   Odd, for 10% its not warming or biting, but just the fusels are killing me.   Not a clean tasting Barley Wine by any means... <shudder> Pouring the rest of this out.
Deep amber with a cream head. Nose is sweet caramel, toffee, and earth. Smooth palate, heavy caramel, dough, heavily sweet finish. john44 (3071) - SW London, Greater London, ENGLAND - JAN 26, 2017
Bottle. BBE date Dec 2012; Drank Sep 2011 - Deep Gold in colour. Malty; lots of caramel, toffee, candy sugar. Fruity; orange-citrus. Hoppy; slight earthy and herbal hops. Alcohol very noticeable. Very sweet malty fruity throughout. Much too sweet and too alcoholic. Rather OTT. Shame. Disappointing! (2011-09-29)

Slightly oxidized copper color with a moderate, stable beige head. Sweet barley scents. Light brown sugar, marzipan and stewed fruit come to mind. Soft palate with just enough zip to keep it light. Sweet malt and floral flavors. Alcohol is rather present. Too much so. Compared to the Imperial Stout which showed very little EtoH. Not as easy of a quaff. 10/11

11.1oz. bottle. Sweet, malty aroma, plenty of caramel and brown sugar tinged with madeira and dried fruit, a faint tobacco note in the background here as well. Only a slight hiss when opening this. Deep, dark amber in color, plenty of sediment which was left behind in the bottle, and a head that quickly fades away to nothing. Flavor profile is richly sugary and malty, more caramel and brown sugar to be found throughout, a very faint peppery alcoholic tone appearing late. No carbonation to speak of, palate is lightly syrupy, thick and warming, body is undoubtedly full. A tad one-dimensional, but not without merit. Alengrin (5255) - BELGIUM - AUG 10, 2014
English-style barley wine with English yeast and English hops. Thin, off-white head, cloudy bronze colour. Aroma of dried fruits, caramel, port wine, cloves, cognac, spicy hops. Taste again dried fruits, spicy, smooth, sweetish caramel malts, citrus accent, finishing in warming brandy-like alcohol. This is my kind of beer, though I did have more complex barley wines.
