Pours dark with a froathy biege head, nice aroma, musty, roasted, coffee and dark fruits. Lovely flavours of coffee and roasted malt. Smooth mouthfeel with lively carbonation. Very good BIPA

Svesse (8358) - Hsselby, SWEDEN - MAR 8, 2013
(Bottle, In De Wildeman, Amsterdam, 22 Feb 2013) Black colour with frothy, beige head. Roasted, malty nose with notes of coffee, pine needles, a touch of grapefruit and dark bread. Malty, roasted, hoppy taste with coffee, chocolate, pine needles and a generous resinous bitterness in the finish. Almost full body, with just a touch of sweetness. Tasty and very nice black IPA.

UPDATED: NOV 18, 2015 Was fan of the old bipa from emelisse, have tried a couple different batches since Kees has left, and the quality of the brews is very pour... Aroma is oxydized hops, smelly feet, some roast, dough, DMS, herbal. Taste is also cheesy, not bitter enough. Very very dissapointing. I think the previous batch was more aromatic, but the beer was amber not black... Too bad, emelisse used to be top notch...

Hints sweet burnt malt. Brownish black. Taste like a toned down ipa and not enough peated to justify making it black. Thin. Quite boring.

Sweet smell of cookie dough and caramel malts. Taste is kind of meh, not really too much going on. Sweetness from the malts and bitterness from the hops. What else is new?

In bottle. Smells like cookie dough. Tastes like caramel/coffee/cookies. Quite hoppy and bitter in the end. The texture is very nice and the high alcohol level is barely noticeable. Great beer.

Geruch Zitrone, hopfig, Kaffee, Bitterschokolade. Beginnt lieblich, slich, hopfig. mittelteil hopfig, zitronig, schokoladig-malzig, bitter. Klingt wrzigbitter und schokoladig aus, gleichwohl auch zitrusartig. Bittert angenehm nach. Sehr gut.

Bottle at home from the bottleshop
Opaque and black as night with a fluffy tan head. Cola, roast barley, licorice and blackcurrant on the nose. Fairly smooth body, lots of dark toasty barley and fair amount of bitterness but little in the way of hops. Touch of orange in the finish. Stout not BIPA but a tasty one

pentaz (1264) - Frederiksberg, DENMARK - FEB 20, 2013
Bottle. Pours near black with a fully lasting and medium lacing creamy beige head. Aroma is mild with roasted malt, hops, bitter chocolate, caramel, herbal, ash, resin, grapefruit. Taste is medium+ bitter and near medium sweet. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is medium. Finishes medium astringent roasted and quite hoppy. The hops doesnt really really come thought in the aroma, but are certainly there.
