Clear mahogany with a small beige head. Smoked aroma with hard roasted malt, hops, wood and coffee. Very dry flavor with hard roasted malt, plenty of hops, smoke from the peated malt, liquerice, whiskey, and espresso. Finished dry, bitter and smoked. What a lovely blend. Seriously love it. Perfect mans beer! vipinvelp (4510) - Velp, NETHERLANDS - JUN 2, 2017
Clear almost black, brown lacing, lasting foam head. Peated hoppy aroma, similar in taste. One can detect the bowmore still there although faint. Very nice. (Velp 201706) JorisPPattyn (10062) - BELGIUM - OCT 30, 2010
Nearly no head over deepbrown beer. Restrained, but very promising C-hops nose, with grapefruit and lytchee, rosewater. Aroma of steamed jasmine rice, and just a hint at whisky and alcohol. Peat, grapefruit-flavoured hops, liquorice, wood and orangemarmalade with near all the sweetness knocked out. Again this jasmine - this time like jasmine tea. Alcohol comes out in the aftertaste, whilst the whisky(barrel) flavours are even more in retard mode, but keep lingering around in the joris’ oral cavity. Exotic spices to crown it all. Long lasting aftertaste, medium to well-bodied, alcoholwarming to some extent. Maybe their best so far. I’m impressed and intrigued by the jasmine. daknole (11050) - Scottsdale, Arizona, USA - JAN 11, 2011
Dark brown pour. Floral and earthy hops mixed with cigar and ash. Tastes like cigar ashes and hops. Cool brew. nbutler11 (1267) - Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, ENGLAND - JAN 19, 2011
Big thanks to my secret santa for this one! Pours an oily brown color with a khaki ring of foam. Smells like salt water taffy. Tastes of rubber, ash, and wonderful. Excellent marriage of hops and char.

On bottle @ 2nd BBF. The aroma has toffee, some caramel, light peated whisky. Black coloured beer with an off-white head. The taste is slightly bitter, has some citrus and roast. Some smoke and light roasted malts. Nice. konstifik (573) - SWEDEN - JUN 20, 2011
Pours a murky sludge-coloured beer with minimal head. Strong flavour with loads of peaty whisky character though it doesn’t overpower the other flavours of caramel, cocoa and roasted malts. There are also some hops present giving the beer a fresh and bitter finish with floral and citrusy notes. Very interesting beer where the whisky barrells really has provided an extra touch to make it better. Benzai (16522) - Oirschot, THE NETHERLANDS, NETHERLANDS - OCT 3, 2013
Bottle [thanks to Bierkoning] @ home shared with Dutchdrebus. Dark brown color with a slight reddish hue coming through. Medium sized almost instantly diminishing slight brown head. Aroma has malts, hops, roastyness. Taste malts, hops, roastyness, slightly peat, a touch of wood and liquor. Full body, medium to full but suitable carbonation. Very nice beer! tdtm82 (1701) - Essex, ENGLAND - NOV 30, 2014
Bottle; many thanks for the awesome legend which is madmitch76; consumed at home; poured into my Moor Beer Company IPA glass. Lacing is white and the head has gone down but it was a nice full head if only very slight.
The aroma is buzzing. Loads of peat; chocolate; Scottish whisky; velvet and leather. The taste is leather; peat; whisky; one penny Black Jack sweets (probably a fiver now); German black licorish; chocolate gateaux cake; velvet and blackburries from Bramling Cross.
A really mental and insanely balanced beer! Really impressive work from a very overlooked brewery with an exceptional barrel-aging programme. Top work! yespr (47039) - Copenhagen O, DENMARK - SEP 26, 2010
33 cL bottle. Pours dark brown to black with a small tan head. Aroma is dark malty, toffee and roasted caramelish. Lingering dark malty and fruity. Mild acidic and fruity. Mild bitter and slight citric. Bitter and dry roasted to vague smoked malty finish.
