33cl Bottle, I think I got it from Sterk. Almost black colour, beige head. Aroma of peat, earth, liquorice root, salmiak, roasted malts, citrus, light floral. Flavour is medium sweet, roasted malts, peat, liquorice root, citrus, passion fruit, earth, toffee, hint of coffee, salmiak, tar, bitter finish. Full bodied, long finish. Lots of peat, not much left of the base beer, but I love it. Blends well with the citrusy hop notes. MaartenRF10 (1959) - Wageningen, NETHERLANDS - FEB 5, 2017
Zwart met kleine bruine kraag die niet al te lang blijft. Geur en smaak veel chocolade en tabak, verder whiskey, alcohol en wat koffie. Vooral de tabak is in de smaak onderscheidend. Mooi spul. En die sigaar die gaat zo aan Edwin ;) DijkBier (594) - AMSTERDAM, NETHERLANDS - NOV 12, 2016
Deep dark brown, near black pour, with no (light brown) head. No carbonation.
Aroma of smoked peat, whisky, dark malts, but less strong than expected, and with the whisky tones of the barrel predominating the beer qualities. Taste is light to medium sweet, brown sugar, very light peated whisky, even lighter the suggestion of some coffee, with a light laurel licorice remaining in aftertaste. But surprisingly limited taste for a beer of 10.5 ABV. This is not Emelisse’s best dark BA beer; nice but not wow...
