Draught at Barrelhouse Flats. Poured very dark brown with a thin white foam. Aroma of funky scotch. Off-putting soapy taste very bitter. Made me shudder.
bottle @ Party Town / Florence KY --- Aroma of malt and earth. Opaque black color, persistent brown head, lots of lace filaments. Taste is malt and bread that has chocolate and peat blended into a velvet palate that has just a bit of nutty grit to keep it interesting. This is one of those timeless brews that seems current today, but fits what I imagine heavy brews tasted like several centuries ago. Alcohol is well-hidden. Full-bodied, rich, creamy, balanced, complex. Outstanding brew. Bosskie (881) - NETHERLANDS - MAR 5, 2016
Pitch black beer with a small creamy head and nice carbonation.
Smell is liquorice, iodine, peat and tar. Hint of dark fruit in the background.
Taste is peat, iodine and ash. Watery oily mouth feel. Finish bitter astringent. Interesting concept but the barrel overwhelms and leaves nothing of the beer. LomYst (879) - Rotterdam, NETHERLANDS - FEB 2, 2016
it’s an ok mix... a bit too sweet but with dense hops and heavy darkness sjogro (3953) - The Hague, NETHERLANDS - DEC 2, 2015
Borefts 2014. Black. Roasted grains and nuts, coffee, lots of piny and fruity hops. Chocolate and a nice spiciness. Creamy. A joy ride. Backlog from 2014/09/26. coachd (802) - Missouri, USA - AUG 1, 2015
Typical black & tan aroma, neither roasty or hoppy. Great appearance - pitch black with a tiny tan head. Tastes just hoppy enough, just roasty enough. Perfect combination. Aftertaste has booze burn, hops and char. Very nice. Palate is decent. Overall a very well done Black and Tan

Keg at Borefts day 2 27/09/2014. Bodegraven. Dark caramel / reddy coloured pour with a sticky cream head. Aroma is cherry fruits, caramel, toffee malts. Flavour is composed of lovely cream caramel, nutty praline, choc and lactose sugars. Nice layered malts, . Palate is full and velvety on the tongue. . Very tasty. Pours a black color with a little beige lacing and no head. Aroma of caramel, chocolate nips, and coffee. Taste of whiskey is in you face at first but finishes with a better chocolate finish. A nice beer.
