Nice dubbel beer, but nothing special though. Warm tones but it lacks some sweetness

Bottle at home in London - sourced from Beermerchants...or maybe Kris Wines. Aged two+ years. Pours mostly clear amber with a creamy, tan head that quickly settles into a film, leaving moderate lacing. Lightly tangy fruits in the nose, berries, figs, some brown bread, toasted sugars, toffee. Medium to heavy sweet flavour (but not cloying), with somewhat sugary and lightly doughy bread, more toffee, gooey caramel, dates and figs, very mild earthy bitterness. Full bodied with average to lively carbonation. Lightly warming on the finish, with ripe, lightly tangy and leathery berries, faint metal, old wood, more toffee, bread, dates. It hits all the right notes, although perhaps not with much gusto.

Exemplaire d’un an environ. Couleur brun roux moyen (ebc 45). Clarté nette. Bulles fines à moyennes, partout, vives. Mousse brun clair, fine, stable à 2 mm.

Licht koffieachtig, notig. Zoetigheid met een hoppige afdronk. Lekker bier.

33cl bottle, served in trappist chalice. Poured a brown with a with a small beige head that disappeared quickly. Aromas of malt, hops, cotton candy, strawberries. Tastes of malt, hops, caramel, fruity bubblegum, strawberry. Drinks very smoothly. Medium body with a bittersweet finish. Overall a quite average dubbel.

33 cl bottle at home. Pours hazy brown with big beige head. Aroma: very malty, coffee, butterscotch, grape, dried fruits. Taste: high sweetness with low bitterness. Finish has notes of nuts, grapes and apricot. Texture is slick. Carbonation is average.

Dark caramel look with a very fine head that gives way to an even finer lacing. Smells like a Belgian ale aright, with dark fruit and strawberries and caramel and all that. The taste follows through, with caramel, toffee, strawberry jam and a bitter hop aftertaste. Decent dubbel, I’d say.

TtV (458) - Nijmegen, NETHERLANDS - DEC 11, 2015
Bottle 33cl. Dark brown with a ruby glow. Off white head. Aroma of fruit and malts. The taste is nothing as expected. It starts mildly bitter and develops into a frenzy of fruits, spices and bitterness. The aftertaste leaves a glow of alcohol.
