The Emilisse Stout is enhance by a blend of fine Italian espresso beans used in the brewing process. It boasts a blend of 90% Arabica and 10% Robusta, which combine to give the Emilisse Espresso Stout an extra-spicy, full-bodied palate.

Bottled. Very deep dark brown in colour with a medium sized dark brown head on its top. Smell of roasted coffee beans. Tannic aroma with coffee, chocolate, brown sugar and some earth underpainted by alcohol. Long sweetbitter finish escorted by roasted malt, warming alcohol and resiny hops. Fine one with a syrupy texture.

Bottle, 33cL. Home. Nederlands bier day# A sparkling black beer with a big beige foamy head ; good retention ; ok lacing. Coffee nose, roast, black chocolate, light caramel, prune note. Medium round sweet, medium dry bitter refreshing, light warming background. Medium good body, light to medium oily texture, soft carbonation, coffee bitter lasting dry finish. Overall, very good ! Nevertheless, lack of warming character ; a bit watery.

Visual: Best at 12C stated on the label. Pours super dark brown without a head, ultra thin ringed retention with a very thin spotty island of retention, hard-to-see steady micro singular streams.

Nose: med-dark roasted barley malt, molasses, caramel (lvl-5)-pungency

Attack: crisp, liquid-thick viscosity

Mid-palate: micro light tingly, coffee acidity, (lvl-4)-sweetness, deep roasted nutty bitter coffee mixed with sweet roasted barley malt = bittersweet, date-fig

Finish: woody vanilla undertones, dry cocoa, dark chocolate, lengthy residual coffee-barley malt.

Summary: I prefer it at 16C as opposed to the recommended 12C, I notice deeper bittersweet coffee notes at right at the start of the mid-palate. At 18C the dark fruit notes of the coffee appear, think date/fig. In conclusion, a really interesting imp stout that changes in flavour profile as the savour each sip - recommended. Exception lingering of residual flavours at the finish.

Aroma : cold coffee Appearance : pitch black, nice brown head Taste : agressive, definitely tastes like a cold coffe, but not a very good one Overall : not the best espresso one can find. Despite the 10%, you cant realy feel the alcohol kicking in (good point)

330 ml bottle. Black body with a small beige head. Aroma has lots of coffee but also roasted dark malt and dark chocolate. Flavor is medium sweet dark roasted malt with lots of good coffee and dark chocolate, fine bitter hoppy balance. Balanced in body as well and long lasting aftertaste with dark malt and coffee. A classic coffee stout.

Bottle @ home. Pours with a very dark brown colour, medium rocky tan head. Aroma is medium to heavy malty, with distinct notes of coffee and additional notes of dark chocolate, licorice and vanilla; medium strong, quite good. Taste is medium sweet, medium bitter, slightly sour in the finish; tasty, but balanced. Medium body, oily texture, average carbonation, long bitter and sour finish.
