worldbeertaste (1818) - West Midlands, ENGLAND - DEC 1, 2013
Deep reddish brown with a thin, tan, frothy, lacy, mostly lasting head. Sweet smell of toasted grain, lots of malt, caramel and an earthy tone with a ting of sourness. Medium oily body with soft carbonation. Tastes nutty sweet with burnt caramel and chocolate notes and finishes with a sour sweet overcooked toffee end. A excellent balance of sweet and sourness. Smooth to drink

Bottle from Bierkoning. Clear dark red pour with thin tan foam. Aroma is very toasty, toasted grain really put forward with rich caramelized malt notes following. Taste is sweeter, rich burnt caramel, light toasted grain, a hint of raisin bread. Palate is med-full and aggressively carbed but leaves a long smooth lingering finish. Very robust bock, without ever being over the top. Yum

Bottle 330 ml at home, into a snifter. ABV 6.5% Deep red brown colour on the body that turns to a deep ruby red when hold against the light. Something more than one finger of foam, off-white in colour and thick, with average retention. Heavy lacing left on the glass. Aroma is mainly of roasted malts.A touch of sourness on it. Little bit of chocolate. Taste has more of the chocolate notes, roasted malts again, sweet and lightly sour. Some caramel and toffee as well. Medium thick body, low carbonation. Good dry palate. Overall a tasty bock.

brown, medium sweetness, medium bitterness, medium body, flat carbonation. Especially the flat carbonation makes it a bit boring.

Shaney (2423) - Köln / Cologne, GERMANY - NOV 4, 2013
Rotbraun, trüb, etwas Schaum. Würzmalziges Aroma. Dünner (!) Antrunk. Karamell, Butterscotch, Kohl, diverse Fehlaromen. Bitter-säuerlicher Abgang. Aromenarm, dünn, langweilig und für das Ergebnis einfach viel zu teuer. Schlecht!

2013 versions from tap. beer poured a hazzy brown colour with a nice white head. a nice sweet malt taste, caramel, some dried red fruits, nice and thick mouthfeel. one of the better bock beers this year.

Martinus (4701) - Baarle-Nassau, NETHERLANDS - OCT 22, 2013
Clear brown colour, cream head. Aroma of caramel, malts, coasted malts, light banana, bread. Sweetish caramel flavour, bitter roasted malts, nuts. Bitter finish, caramel. Decent beer, quite nice bock, but I’m not a real big fan of the genre.

Laatste bij de rondleiding. Ruikt naar bok. Valt eigenlijk beetje tegen. Maar moeilijk eaarom

Bottle picked up from CF Diesch, Middelburg, Netherlands, Wednesday 2nd October consumed at home Friday 11th October 2013 Pours amber, a little murky with off white head. Taste is sweet with caramel showing. A little chewy it has a warming and autumnal feel to it. Wish it had a little more about it, but its fine. A6 A3 T7 P3 Ov13 3.2

Fles gedeeld met bryan vdv. Zeer troebel biertje. Fruitige en zure smaak. Met een klein bitterje. Lekker bockbier.
