Light beige, thin head stayed well on a reddy mahogany still body. Stuu666 (15085) - Edinburgh, SCOTLAND - DEC 12, 2016
Stewed fruits, raisin, sugar & grape aroma.
Thick oily body, smooth - feels just like Castrol GTX does when you get it on the hands!
Subtle to the front with malt & caramel but this quickly envelops the tongue with a rich dark fruit blast, cherry, plum, grape & vanilla and then a boozy, peppery aft.
This gives a real warming to the cheeks.
Bottle at home. Pours deep brown, nose is caramel, toffee, biscuit, taste is sweet toffee, light smoke, bitter, caramel.

330ml bottle (thanks FatPhil). Dark chestnut color. Tiny to almost no head. Sweet, raisins, prunes, malty, alcohol in aroma. Smoked, woody, raisins, alcohol in taste. Woody and bit smoky in aftertaste. Soft fizzy carbonation. Bit alcoholic. But drinkable brew. martjoobolut (5239) - Tallinn, ESTONIA - NOV 12, 2016

Keg at Arendsnest, Amsterdam. Vintage 2013 - I was sure this is BBA but the bartender told me it is their own vintage they have aged for three years. Pours very dark brown, small dark brown head. Nose is sweet bourbon, dark roast, sweet malts, vanilla. Tastes sweet chocolate, big but gentle barrel oak, vanilla, nice balance although boozy warmth is also present. Excellent stuff. Bottle share at Floor 42 with thanks to Fergus. As ’Emelisse Imperial Doppelbock 2015’. Dark brown with an orange hue, opaque, still, foamy tan head. Aroma is treacle, some burnt toffee, cardboard. Body is smooth, a little frothy, soft carbonation. Taste is malt-led with dense dark breads, crusts, spicy and boozy. Full flavoured. Actually pretty good for style. 330mL bottle from International Beer Collector. 2015 vintage BB 12/18
Deep thick tawny body, small ring of tan foam sits atop.
Aroma is rich - dark brown caramel, toasted nuts, honey, cocoa, sultana & vinous dark fruits.
Big rich syrupy body, low carbonation, lusciously warming & inviting.
Steps up a gear on the body - loads of rich, sweet burnt caramel, toasted nuts, chocolate, port, touch of smoke on a warming, reasonably bitter finish.
Lovely great big winter warmer.
