Pours dark and black. Looks thick. Not much head just a few brown bubbles. Nose is coffee and ashtray. Reminds me of a smoke filled jazz lounge and a little Like seaweed. Flavor is sweet up front but mostly bitter. Long aftertaste.

Cask (gravity dispense - I think) at Great British Beer Festival, day 4 on 5 August 2011. Black in colour with a thin tan head and moderate condition. Rich and full. Plenty of whisky here. As usual with this sort of thing, if you like whisky, particularly medicinal Islay whisky, and you like it in your beer, you’ll like this. If you don’t, you won’t. I’m in the former camp. Big on impact, low on subtlety.

Pours pitch black with a tiny and sticky light brown head. Aroma has notes of smoky whisky, roasted malts, vanilla and wood. Taste is quite dry and has notes of peat, wood, coffee, chocolate, vanilla, whisky and roasted malts. Finish is slightly sweet and strong with wooden and coffee notes. Quite nice imperial stout, but not as good as the peated Jack Daniels BA version.

Sample at Borefts Beer Festival 2011. Pours a pitch black beer with a brown head. The aroma is malt, roasted, sweetness, peat, smoke and wood. The flavor follows the nose. The palate is sweetness and alcoholwarmth. Overall a good beer. Papsoe (25054) - Frederiksberg, DENMARK - NOV 19, 2011
Bottle 33 cl. Pours a clear dark brown with a vague reddish hue and a small and rough beige head. Iodine, ashes and hard roasted malts in the nose. Quite full-bodied, sweet hard roast malts, earthy and again iodine with a distinctly ashy and malt bitter finish. But a peaty beer that I for once find drinkable. 301011
