A bottle from 12 1/2 years of ’t Arendsnest party. Very dark, practically black. Has short head, and overall the looks are what one usually expects with a stout. Smell has very very much chocolate/cocoa. And the first sip is full of chocolate plus sharpness of alcohol. After a moment the other aromas appear and they are from yeast; basement, leather and such. Texture is oily and there carbonation is on minimal level. Finish is rather long.

Bottled. 10cl sample.Old note. The aroma has chocolate, toffee, spice, vanilla. Black coloured beer, not much head. The taste is sweetish, sugary, seems to have vanilla, cinnamon, chocolate. Not my thing.

Re-created rating since it seems I’ve lost most of the words. Bottle shared at the Colin and the Vikings tasting. Pours reddish dark brown with an offwhite head that leaves a small trace on the glass while dissipating. Dominated by toasted cereal, chocolate, vanilla beans, sassafras, peppermint and biscuits. Soft slightly cloying mouthfeel. Too weird for me...

Doft: söt, en gnutta spritig. Smak: den slog ut min hjärna...helt underbar. Flytande efterätt. Choklad mitt i prick, crämig, vanilj. En underbar trevlig öl.

jmgreenuk (9556) - Kuala Lumpur, MALAYSIA - MAR 22, 2014
Bottle at the "Colin and the Vikings tasting, Goteborg", supplied by Biernavigatie. Poured a clear murky dark brown with a thin white head. The aroma is big sweet chocolate, roasted malt. The flavour is medium bitter/sweet with a smooth nettle hop palate. Medium to full bodied with flat carbonation. Loved the chocolate aroma but things went a little downhill after that. Still a great beer for me though.
