Poured a medium reddish amber with a small tan ring. Aroma of sweet roast malt and alcohol soaked fruit. Full body, flavour as the aroma, meaty berries.

Barley wine greatness from Emelisse. Somehow they mixed the sweetness of a barley wine with the smooth bitterness of hops. Really good.

makromaniak (158) - Tilburg, NETHERLANDS - JUN 9, 2013
Dark amber with a beige head and enough carbo...aroma is caramel, malts and fruit. Taste is malts, caramel, cookies, fruit, alcohol, sugar, a little sour and a nice small bitter finish. Nice beer!

Bottle, 33cl, at home. I can hardly smell anything in the aroma, but that might be because my nose closed up after the first sip. The taste is so full of alcohol that it made me sneeze. The taste is mild at first with some chili pepper and wood, then roasted malt and burnt sugar, then alcohol and aspirine. It ends with a bitter finish, that’ll make you long for the next sip. First barley wine ever. Bonus points for the complexity of the beer, but it’s not an ’easy’ drinker.

Bottle. Pours a clear dark amber, tea like colour with a small beige head. Aroma is full of malts, caramel, madeira. Flavour is quite sweet and a bit alcoholic, but again backed up by strong malty base. Even carries a bit of a hoppy bite in the end of the flavour. Long lasting, bittersweet aftertaste. Nice in balance and a great sipper!

UPDATED: MAR 17, 2014 Bottle @ home. Aroma is very deep and malty, some caramel, slight roasted malt, some bread and hops. Flavour is thick and malty with a nice hop bitterness, also some bready roasty bitterness and loads more of sweet malty notes. Some alcohol burn in the finish. Very nice.

Small offwhite head. Clear deep dark red body. Fruity caramelly earthy aroma with raisiny toffee notes. Dry-sweet toffee, caramel and dried fruit taste with wild berry notes. Full body. Slightly hot mouthfeel. Dry wild berry and fruit aftertaste with earthy oily caramelly peppery chocolatey notes. Really nice and well balanced. Highly drinkable. Bitter finish. (0.33l bottle, Håndverkerstuene, Oslo.)
