(Bottle) Hazy amber colour with brief, foamy, beige head. Malty, vinous nose with dried fruit, caramel, toffee, raisins, oak wood, vanilla and vinous hints of alcohol. Malty, fruity, slightly peppery taste with dried fruit, caramel, raisins, vanilla, oak wood, a touch of cinnamon and a warming finish with a slight bourbon glow and a balanced spicy bitterness. Full body, mellow mouthfeel. Quite sweet. Tasty and fairly well balanced for its strength. Good wood character with hints of tannins. Very nice.

330ml bottle. Brown with one finger white to brown head. Very boozy aroma with some dried fruits, figs, dates, raisins etc., wood and maybe some chocolate in the background. Tastes much like a bourbon, sweet and boozy with hints of vanilla and more dried fruits. Unfortunately the barrel has completely taken over the flavor as taste is bourbon, bourbon and more bourbon. Very boozy and inhaling after a sip is almost like inhaling after taking a shot. Pitty, this could probably have been quite good had the barrel aging not totally bulldoozed everything else. Later addition: this beer grows on me as I keep drinking it and I’m no longer sure I dislike it as much as i initially did. However, I still think my initial observation of the barrel aging having bulldoozed it is most objectively correct. The fact that I rather like bourbon doesn’t make this a good beer, it merely makes it drinkable to me.
